That's a NICE card though and some FW devices are VERY finicky when it comes to controller chips. I wouldn't cheat myself on hardware because I may as well just get a real mac then. You could buy a mac or get premium parts and have a configurable mac at 2/3 the cost. I wouldn't skimp on...

OSX uses CoreAudio and CoreMidi which are part of the OS instead of another application layer like the old days of System 7-9, or ASIO etc. on windows. OSX smokes windows for music production IMO because you can audition any type of media file within the finder, it's a TRUE drag and drop...

Try using the Apogee stuff! I don't have any issues... but rethinking your way of doing music is always the issue with DAWS of any kind, PC or Mac.

So your saying that you can put a 6 core intel i7 on this board instead of the 980 4 core?

Any word on 6 core capability? I'm taking the plunge into a hack because the 6 core MP is just way over priced when I can build this and have USB3 too so is the 6 core processors supported on your builds?
