Hambone-
Any luck getting audio to work?
I'm in the same boat and cannot get audio working. Was working fine under 10.7 Lion...
Tried using DSDT and still doesn't work...
Thoughts?
SAS to SATA adapter...
This is the one I ordered:
maxupgrades.com: MaxConnect SAS/SATA Link with with MiniSAS- 4x SATA Cable for Mac Pro 2006/ 2007/ 2008
Take a look here:
http://www.sata-io.org/technology/port_multipliers.asp
Your HighPoint 620 only has 2 SATA ports... The only way you can connect more than 2 drives will be to use a port multiplier...
How many drives are you planning to connect? If you're trying to enable all 4 Mac Pro drive sleds, this card is probably not the way to go.
I'm guessing that you are looking for a PORT MULTIPLIER – not a SAS cable... Your RocketRAID 620 only has 2 SATA ports -- but it will support 5:1 port...
Careful... The MacPro shelf and the outer case are difficult to cut. The shelf is made from steel and the outer case is quite thick. Making clean cuts that look nice will be near impossible. Not to mention -- how will you "seal it back up" after you cut the bottom out of the case??
I think...
Hi Jeff-
I'm not sure what you think I can do about it. They've got a crappy website, what can I say??
The page I referenced is for this product (which is what I used):
P/N Part Description
SZ-DCMSAS-R14X
MaxConnect SAS/SATA Link for PCI Express Controller with MiniSAS to 4x SATA Cable...
Nope... It's not an IDE port -- it just uses the same connector... Electrically, it is an Apple-specific (Mac Pro 2009-specific) pinout... So, you can buy a cheap IDE cable for one end (to plug into the front board), but you're going to have a fair amount of work cutting it up and splicing on...
MrMeister-
Your 2009 Mac Pro front board has a much different wiring scheme...
See here:
http://aquamac.proboards.com/index.cgi? ... 087&page=2
You can use an IDE header (same 44 pin connector), but you'll have to break out the individual wires and figure out the correct pinout to make...
Audio Problems??
If you're like me, every time you run an Apple Software Update, your audio dies...
10.7.3 was no exception...
Here's the latest fix -- was quite easy for me:

Hi fliptwister-
Yes, I just got USB 3.0 working on my Gigabyte Z68MX-UD2H-B3 -- same Etron EJ168 USB 3.0 controller...
It was really easy -- just ran MultiBeast 4.2.1 and re-installed the USB 3.0 driver. See here: viewtopic.php?f=76&t=23285&start=120
Good luck!

Re: Mooner's HackPro (Gigabyte Z68MX-UD2H-B3) - USB 3.0 WORKING!
Ok -- ran MultiBeast 4.2.1 -- rebooted -- now USB 3.0 is working fine on Etron EJ168 chipset. I now have 4 working USB 3.0 ports!! Easy as pie...
Hooked up a couple new Seagate 4TB drives to test. One is the external Seagate...
