Thanks for the help Newhacker. I got it working with your kext, but the real problem was that I didn't have FakeSMC installed. I am a total newbie to anything Mac but am trying to build one for my father who has only ever used Mac OS machines AND so I can say I have done it!:) It has been a...

OK, I figured out what was wrong - I didn't have FakeSMC installed in S/L/E on my hard drive. Got it working! Booted with "arch=x86_64 -f -v". On to Yosemite!! Thanks for the assistance!

Thanks Going Bald. I have tried that boot flag when at the Chimera boot screen, as was suggested in other posts but it doesn't seem to work. The boot progress stops at the white apple logo screen. Any other methods? Am I able to extract the boot file from iBoot, update it and then boot from...

    Older OS X, Newer Hardware

OK, I think I have found the problem. My computer is booting (from iBoot) in 32 bit mode while the kext needs 64 bit. Now I've just got to figure out how to boot into 62 bit mode. I've tried to do this by installing the 64-bit Apple boot screen from Multibeast, but it says only to install...

Still no luck!! I have tried all the different kexts (the one Jithin provided the link for, the one from the repository on this site and one from Realtek's website too) and even different install methods (Multibeast, KextWizard and OSxTools). All with no luck. I have followed the readme file...

Thanks for the readme file it showed me steps that I didn't know were necessary before. I followed it to the letter, but still no ethernet. I assumed that my terminal commands: sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleRTL8169Ethernet.kext worked to...

Thanks for the help Jithin. Still no luck though. I found this thread (http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-builds/138331-msi-h81i-pentium-g3258-pny-geforce-gt-430-10-8-5-no-dsdt-fully-working-everything.html) referring to a build with the same mobo and it mentions in the OP that: "On-board...
