The Dell OptiMac Big Sur/OpenCore Thread - For 7020/9020 Optiplex Desktops

You don't need to define the connectors at all as far as I can tell. It's something we're testing over on Zearp's GitHub as part of trying to get 4k working, but so far it hasn't really made a difference (see this thread, we've got a ton of info/tests going on). If you're curious, here's a...

[Guide] Intel Framebuffer patching using WhateverGreen

How do you manually enter a max-pixel-clock value? I found that the default 675 MHz limit can be changed with the `max-pixel-clock-frequency` property in `IGPU`, which overrides the new max pixel clock limit (in hertz) (link: https://github.com/acidanthera/WhateverGreen/pull/80/files). But the...

The Dell OptiMac Big Sur/OpenCore Thread - For 7020/9020 Optiplex Desktops

Interestingly, I discovered that the enable-hdmi20 also functions to raise the pixel clock limit to 675! The most obvious thing to do was to swap that 1:1 with the enable-max-pixel-clock-override property (or alternatively, the -igfxmpc boot-arg which also does the same thing), but neither of...

The Dell OptiMac Big Sur/OpenCore Thread - For 7020/9020 Optiplex Desktops

I've made some progress investigating 4k/60 via Haswell HD4600 IGPU on the Dell OptiPlex (SFF 7020) and posting my findings in hopes that it might give some leads to other more knowledgeable members of the community. The main issue (as I understand it) moving from the working 4k setup on...

    << Solved >> Dell Optiplex 7020 - 4K monitors on Intel 4600 Integrated GPU

No, on Catalina - I tried Big Sur and found 4k didn't work at all. As far as I can tell it looks like WhateverGreen's (WEG) enable-hdmi20 option is not working (known bug) with Big Sur. I’m not sure if it’s this value specifically, or how the properties are applied overall but I'm waiting for an...

    << Solved >> Dell Optiplex 7020 - 4K monitors on Intel 4600 Integrated GPU

Interesting, after some discussion it looks like the 'scaled' options with a connected 4k display are definitely limited (shows 1920x1080 or lower scaling resolutions) vs., connecting the same monitor to a real MacBook (which shows much higher scaling resolutions available, e.g., 1440 scaling)...

Good call, for folks that do have a 4K monitor it looks like we’re just waiting on a WhateverGreen update

@li3p I upgraded using a 7020 SFF OC system. Easy upgrade, however I found I lost 4k (60Hz is working, but max resolution is 2560x1600). In Displays in settings it now shows iMac where before it said Retina iMac... @trs96 this is using the settings that @nicksoph and I worked out previously.

    The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

Thanks, I wasn't sure if there'd been any new developments in the community but it doesn't sound like it! Agreed, wouldn't be worth the effort for basically a cosmetic case swap (i.e., would not enable additional upgrade paths). Thanks!

    The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

Out of curiosity, has anyone had any recent success case-swapping the SFF version? I know it's particularly difficult with this model (e.g., front sensors, CPU cooler, etc.) but I'm seeing some interesting hardware pop up for the MT model and was curious if anyone has any new leads/guides/tips, etc.

Unlocking the CFG Dell hides the CFG Lock setting in the BIOS which means we have to unlock it manually. Unlocking the CFG is needed for MacOS to boot and run properly. Before we begin it's absolutely critical to be on the proper BIOS firmware. BIOS 7020 requires the A18 BIOS 9020 requires...

    The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

Works in OpenCore with an additional step to perform an OC snapshot in Propertree by opening the config.plist in Propertree and hitting command+R, then pointing to the OC folder (this adds the new kext data to the config.plist).

Hi, I'm on OpenCore with my 7020 SFF and using dual DP monitors (27"4k + 24"1080p vertical). I've posted my summary of how to get that running smoothly over on the thread if you ever make the jump!
