Dams - I cannot answer your question. I do not know the answer. You have a different motherboard, (yours is Z370X, mine is Z270X), and I am unfamiliar with the problem you are stating. Also, this message thread is addressing a different topic, so it is not appropriate to ask here.
Please try...
High Sierra is now installed on my Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming 7, but I had to do extensive troubleshooting before discovering that the Optane Memory unit prevented the High Sierra installer from booting correctly. After removing the unit, I was able to boot and install High Sierra 10.13.4.
Does...
@deagle50 - There's are significant differences between the Optane P900 SSDs (280GB and 480GB PCIe interface) and the Optane Memory drives (16GB and 32GB M.2 interface, used for cache). I am beginning to suspect it would require custom drivers or kernel extentions.
Evidently there is no problem...
@deagle50 Have you accomplished this before? I bought an optane M.2 stick for Windows, but I had to turn it off in BIOS just to get my hackintosh to boot. I'd like to understand better how to use the Fusion option. How does that work?
I tried (I'm building a Gigabyte GA-Z270X-Gaming 7 10.13 rig) but I had to turn off optane in BIOS (Peripherals>SATA>Optane/AHCI) just to get Sierra installed.
Sierra Installer would boot but wouldn't recognize SATA drives until I turned it off. So... not promising?
High sierra wouldn't boot...
@canyondust: I did manage to boot from the red USB type "A" port, by allowing Thunderbolt Booting in BIOS>Peripherals>Thunderbolt. Sierra Installation works and High Sierra installation seems to be progressing fine from the 3.1 or 3.0 ports; I'm using the latest UBSInjectAll.kext and...
I was not. This got me thinking...
After poking around in the BIOS, this is what works:
Change
Peripherals>SATA And RST Configuration>Intel RST Premium With Intel Optane System Acceleration
To:
Peripherals>SATA And RST Configuration>AHCI
And no more MACH Reboot error!!! Also, In the...
Well, I did manage to fially boot to the 10.12.2 Sierra installer using a modified version of the 7.1.1 Unibeast thumbdrive. That, along with zero "[Success] GA-Z270X-Gaming 7" posts mentioning anything about using a port on the 2.0 header, makes me think it's a non-issue. I could be wrong...
Good thinking, @canyondust!
...I tried installing the GTX 1060 on the motherboard and booting with igfx disabled at BIOS. Tried a few other BIOS tweaks, including resetting to optimized defaults. Tried various Nvidia techniques. Still no dice. MACH Reboot. Every time.
I'm beginning to feel...
Thanks so much for taking the time to help me out, @P1LGRIM!
The learning curve is steep every time I start a new build on new hardware, but I learn so much, and it's the help of people like you that make it so rewarding to participate!
I tried HARDEST.
I did a custom install of Clover with AptioMemoryFix.efi, failed to boot past ++++++++++++
I snagged the AptioMemoryFix.efi and added that to the drivers64UEFI folder on an otherwise unmodified UniBeast 8.3.1-built USB drive, and had the same identical "MACH Reboot" error...
Thanks! I read that @RehabMan was including it on the build notes for the latest couple versions.
I downloaded Clover_v2.4k_r4423.RM-4614.cf0897a3.zip, unzipped it, and used the .pkg installer on my USB drive, but didn't see AptioMemoryFix.efi anywhere after that. When I tried booting from the...
