I thought after the introduction of the Mac Studio there would be no need for another hack. But Apple just doesn't respect the needs of the user to grow. As a producer I need PCIe cards for audio accelerators, at least 4TB of NVMe storage for virtual instruments, more USB ports for controllers...
PCIe slots can be tricky, I had those issues with my X299 build and the WiFi adapter. I'll take a look at how my cards work in the slots. I have a few one-lane cards I will install. I'll report back the results.
Welp, got it going. The Framebuffer settings in the 'display controller' section in device properties of the config file weren't right for this build. Copied settings over from my other Z490 ProArt and voila! The RAM allocation dropped from 2GB to 1.5GB, but that's irrelevant to my needs, and I...
@Bergier3K
I followed the BIOS settings for @Middleman Aorus Xtreme-HS build combined with @CaseySJ Vision-D instructions. The system is working besides Wifi, haven't tested Thunderbolt yet. I don't use an HDMI adapter, and tried it in a 4K TV and 4K monitor with same results. That tells me it’s...
Ok, progress. I checked another thread of someone with a similar issue and the brillant @Feartech identified it as a graphics issue. Sure enough, my model and device id in the device properties were wrong (9BCD). Changed them to 9B3E and got to the installer! Now the problem is the screen is...
Thanks, I have tried a a few BIOS setting configurations, none of them are having any effect. It still produces the same "exiting bootstrap" "failed to bootstrap" message. @Bergier3K What are your BIOS settings?
Thank you, I'll get right on that. :)
Hi @Middleman, thanks for making this guide. I'm at my wit's end trying to get to the installer. I used the EFI you provided with OC 0.6.8 to try and install 11.5.2 on the Z490 Aorus Xtreme and it failed to enter bootstrap. I then created a installer for 11.7.1 and updated to OC 0.7.9 because...
My oldest hack in use was my first one.
Asus X79 Rampage IV Extreme
Intel E-1650 6-Core Ivy Bridge-E
NVIDIA Geforce 780
32GB 1600MHz DDR-3
SAMSUNG SM-951
It caught fire last year and after a new power supply and case, its running with El Capitan as strong as ever. Still in use for video...
Much to my amazement, NVIDIA has replied with a solution to a user who contacted them about this issue. I guess its good business not to lose nearly every user of a platform in a single week. I tried the solution and it worked.
In summary, they made drivers with new signatures, but only for...
It is. I was looking for a motherboard that could do TB3, 2 LAN ports and dual video output from the iGPU and I believe this was the only one that had everything.
Just wanted to stop in and say thanks to @Stork, @CaseySJ and all others for the incredible guides, tools and directions. This was one of the fastest and trouble free builds I’ve ever done. Regardless that I couldn’t build it from scratch like wanted to, the resources provided got the job done...
I have a similar system (7900X + 64GB + WD750 SSD + 1080Ti), and I wouldn’t swap yet.
1. Storage; 9TB+ on SATA ports, 1TB on NVME SSDs, and 4TB RAID on Hyper M.2 V2 card
2. PCIe; I use several audio accelerator cards to run my audio FX and expand the system
3. Ports; Mac Studio has plenty of...
An equivalent system with 10-Core CPU, comparable GPU, 64GB of RAM, 1TB of Gen4 storage, thunderbolt, 10G LAN, etc? About the same, half of it would be the GPU, AND that before WiFi/BT.
