It's hard to say, maybe if you know the name of the file you downloaded and where you downloaded it, maybe somebody here knows what it is. Or googling on the name of your downloaded file could lead you to a possible solution.

Like Injury said, use Multibeast. When you boot into macOS (where you say you can boot into using your USB), run Multibeast to install clover bootloader and possibly some drivers (clover boot selector as you call it) to your Harddisk/SSD. Remove your USB and reboot.
