[GUIDE] macOS Big Sur 11 on Z390 Aorus Elite board

Thank you very much for taking the time do to this! I was having real problems installing Big Sur with OpenCore 0.6.2 but I just adapted your EFI by changing the SMBIOS and adding the CFGLock patches and I managed to get a fresh install from USB. Weirdly it restarted the first time at '12...

Big Sur Installation Crash at 12 Minutes Mark

I'm having the same issue - Restarts at 12 minutes remaining, then doesn't make any progress. Using Z390 Aorus Ultra - i9900k - 5700xt I tried installing using iGPU only but got denied symbol trying to boot into the installer. EDIT - I managed to get a fresh install using the EFI and...

    AMD 5700 XT crashing

Do you mean lowering the memory as in XMP RAM? or changing the frequency of the GPU? Changing the BIOS switch as mentioned on my last post didn't work for me still crashing.

    AMD 5700 XT crashing

Switching to iMac SMBIOS didn't work for me either unfortunately. After trying in windows I was getting a similar glitchy/freeze so I'm sure its a problem with the card itself. Back to RX 580 for now. Edit - did a bit of searching and it seems that this is a common problem for this card. One...

    AMD 5700 XT crashing

Did anyone find a solution to this? I have just upgraded from the RX 580 to 5700 XT and am getting the same problem. There was never any issues with the RX 580, just a direct swap and it seems to happen randomly.

    UP3218K only runs at 4k

Hey Guys, Thanks for looking into it! I'm not really sure how to extract EDID data using terminal but I've attached below the EDID from darwinddumper. Does this help at all? I've deleted the DisplayProductID-4147 files and restarted. Will try your suggestion at post #37. Sorry my...

    UP3218K only runs at 4k

Hey Guys, Not sure if anyone is still interested in working this out but I have upgraded to Catalina 10.15.2 with the DELL UP3218K. Currently trying to get the 8K res working at 60hz but its still showing up as 2 separate displays in system information. Is it worth me trying a new mtdd file...

    UP3218K only runs at 4k

Not on the same screen at the same time, something in the file you sent must have enabled it. At the moment I think I am physically seeing 7680 x 4320 @ 60hz as its split into two desktops on the same monitor. On my last post the first attachment shows a photo of the monitor with 3840 x 4320 @...

    UP3218K only runs at 4k

Something else that's interesting after installing your file - If I change the outputs to a few of the lower resolution settings at 60hz, it gives the below result, two separate tiled desktops but it seems to have attempted to merge the two outputs! It seems the hardware is working properly as...

    UP3218K only runs at 4k

Hi, ah interesting. I've attached below screenshots and EDID after deleting the "DisplayProductID-4147" and restart. Also tried installing the file you attached, and restarted with the same resolutions. I know that with Windows you have to install a driver/software to get 7680 x 4320 @ 60 Hz...
