Great, thanks! Now let's see which GTX 750 Ti works best... some say that the Asus STRIX TI one doesn't work without flashing the firmware (from pallit i believe?). But I need it to be as quiet as possible.
Alongside a high performance buid, friend of me asked to do a Mac Mini rival. Aiming for ± 10000 Geekbench score.
This is the system:
Case: Fractal Design Core 500
Motherboard: Asrock H170M Pro4
CPU: i5 6400 2.7GHz
Memory: Crucial Ballistic Sport LT DDR4 2x8 GB 2400MHz
Storage: Samsung 850 Pro...
Would this also work with the Asusrock H170M Pro4? Considering that mobo + i5-6400 onboard HD 530 for a Mac Mini rival build for a friend of mine.
EDIT: WITH DISPLAYPORT I MEAN!!! Friend of mine is using the 27" Thunderbolt Display.
Hi all, I've made this build. Is there anything I'm overlooking or I will have issues with for a hackintosh?
Extreme silence:
PC Case: Fractal Design R5 Blackout (silent and sturdy, with dampening)
Case Fans: 3x Noctua NF-A14 PWM with low-noise adapter (optimum airflow vs noise, near silent on...
Thanks for the quick reply, again! I've read somewhere that 950 pro comes in two versions... nvme and ahci, which can be seen on the serial number (V for nvme, H for ahci), and should be supported. If I have to get the nvme-version, is it going to work? Or is it not worth the effort and too much...
Thanks! I won't go for less than 32GB. Do think 64GB is even better? Or is 32GB the sweetspot?
For storage I'll try 950 Pro m.2 512 GB for OS and 850 Pro 1 TB sata 600 for photos and other data.
Thanks! Quick question.. you said you overclocked your CPU to 4.7Ghz. Do you need to overclock memory as well?
Why did you settle on G.Skill Trident Z Series? Did you consider Kingston Hyper Fury X / Savage or Crucial Ballistix LT?
I really want to know what memory is best to go with...
That is an awesome build, will look into that. Seems like effort is on par with a custom linux installation, nothing worrying that would keep me from building a hackintosh!
Thanks for the information. How did you overclock it? Bios? Did you need extra cooling? I'm also aiming for a very quiet system like stock macs.
Yeah, Lightroom on my MacBook Pro doesn't run smoothly AT ALL. It is constantly lagging and beachballing. I MUST upgrade.
