D'oh!! Yes, Mojave, of course. Thanks for the 64-bit reminder. There are some 32-bit music-related apps on my machine which I will need to upgrade, hopefully for free.

I never upgraded to Mavericks because of the Invidia drivers issue. Once I get a compatible card, is there any reason not to jump straight from High Sierra to Catalina?

Yeah, I think I'll pass on that for now. I was able to get decent sound back with VoodooHDA.kext 2.9.0v11+ AppleHDAdisabler.kext. For high quality audio I use a Firewire interface. It's been a bit of a pain, but I've got my system fully up and running with High Sierra and GTX 750 Ti graphics now!

Did you do everything starting with "Create your DSDT"? Just that first step links to a post that's about ten pages of instructions. Not sure it's worth all that when I have other ways of getting sound. But tell me if it's simpler than that makes it look.

I wasn't able to boot from UniBeast USB, so I did a full erase and install of 10.3.2 then the supplemental update. Everything is fine so far except built-in audio. Are you still using VoodooHDA 2.8.8? That's what I chose in MultiBeast but I get a "no VoodooHDA devices found" error in sound...

I'm not sure I can get to the EFI folder until I can boot. Is there a way to mount the EFI partition from the recovery mode terminal? I just tried to start in verbose mode a couple more times and here's where the kernel panic happened:

I assume kernel panic. I would see the apple and progress bar for a few seconds, then screen would go black and restart. I did try verbose mode. Here's a picture of where it stopped.

Sadly, it didn't go so smoothly for me -- more like a rollercoaster that I'm still on. I think the initial High Sierra install was fine (at least it booted and I went through the setup), but then I immediately (and perhaps stupidly) went into the App Store and installed the supplemental update...

I've been running my 8300 CMT i7 on Sierra using the integrated HD4000 graphics since June. Now I'm ready to upgrade to High Sierra and also upgrade the graphics to an EVGA 750 Ti eBay special. Is there a particular order that would be best to do this? I.e. get 10.13 up and running before...

An update on my Firewire problem from a few days ago: I previously installed a StarTech PCI1394MP Firewire 400 (1394a) PCI card and could only get it to be recognized by removing the AppleHPET.kext, which unfortunately made my system unusable. I have now had success with the Syba/Iocrest...

Ah, I see. Thanks. After some research it appears AppleHPET.kext causes an IRQ conflict with the FW PCI card. I think my next step is to try a PCIe card to see if that works. Most working FW installs are using PCIe and the Syba cards seem to be the current favorite. Interesting side note...

This is my first post to this thread. I have an 8300 i7-3770 minitower and this is my first Hackintosh system. Thanks to pastrychef and others here, I have had mostly great success in getting this machine up and running with Sierra. However, I am having trouble with Firewire using the StarTech...

    Core I5-3470 Dell Optiplex 7010 8GB/1TB $330 at Newegg

Thanks for the update, arkieboy72472. When you say you are no longer having USB issues, does that mean you were able to turn USB 3 back on? (IIRC you had to turn it off before.) Another question: What is the DIMM configuration that your system came with? According to this thread, the 7010...

    Core I5-3470 Dell Optiplex 7010 8GB/1TB $330 at Newegg

Hey, arkieboy72472, did you get that refurbished system from Amazon yet? I see an offer for $199 from Accurate IT, but I noticed their reviews aren't very good -- 21% negative in last 30 days. I would like to hear about your experience before taking a dive into making a Dell hackintosh.
