Hidy-ho. Sleep problem with my 8300 CMT/HD4000/High Sierra rig.
Running Bios 3.06 and a recently 2018-001 Security updated High Sierra.
I have been seeing three behaviors:
1) If I manually put to sleep and wake in a couple of minutes - no problem
2) If I let it go to sleep and then wake in 4...
Question for @trs96 and/or @pastrychef :
Thanks so much for the guides. I successfully installed Sierra on the 8300 CMT/HD4000/Win10 on second drive. This is a nice upgrade for my 2009 mac mini.
I'd like to upgrade to High Sierra - directly from the MAS preferably - and I have a question about...
Good info! Thanks!! I had purchased a used FW400 card with the TI chipset for $3 at a university surplus, but haven't tried it yet. This seems like a solid backup plan, and maybe just a solid plan regardless given that it looks like a huge time-saver.
Good stuff - thank you for the clear and detailed answer. One question: can I move the home folder from the new OS onto the same partition as the old home folder (prior to copying)?
Thank you,
JD
Hi,
I've been running Mavericks with a Unibeast install for over a year using an SSD for the OS and a regular HDD for the home directory. Works great except for a minor USB issue and not being able to sleep. I spent 2 months trying to solve those problems before I gave up and just figured out a...
I always assume stuff works 100% when the main problem is solved with a change.
The PCIRoot=0 fix definitely allows USB devices to connect without crashing the system after a sleep.
However, the system will still crash (or not boot) if an external drive is connected, or if a bluetooth adapter is...
You are a gentleman and a scholar. =0 totally fixed the USB issue.
Thank you so much!!!
Interestingly, "=1" hosed the display resolution (everything looked gigantic) and it crashed upon restart.
I switched to =0 and rebuilt permissions.
Working well so far! Cheers.

Hey Blackstaff,
How is your system running now, particularly with regard to USB? At this point, I've lost all USB function both 2.0 and 3.0.
Thanks,
Josh
I tried the same fix with the three files, and had the same result. USB no longer locks up when I attach a storage device or iphone. However, my Logitech quickcam pro 9000 no longer provides video. The mic works as in Ozgur's case.
My setup is:

i5 4690K
External USB soundcard...
Hey thanks for the follow-up. Not many others here with this board who have posted dealing with these particular issues.
I'm still running 10.9.5, but changed my system type from 14,2 to 3,1. The freeze on wake problem totally resolved.
Now, I've discovered that certain USB devices, when...

I have been using this board in the following setup:

Hi,
Running 10.9.5 here with Multibeast/Chimera. Short sleeps are okay: All fans and monitor go off and the system will wake appropriately. It will wake successfully after sleeps of up to 2 hours.
But...if I leave overnight, when I try to wake, fans spin-up but monitor does not come on. The...
