No dice, still no brightness slider.

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

For first-gen HD Graphics, as I understand either MacBookPro6,1 or MacBookPro6,2 should be used. Currently using MacBookPro6,2 and changing to MacBookPro6,1 results in no brightness slider still.

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

I enabled debugging of kext patches and indeed it finds a match and patches the AppleBacklight kext.

Moved kexts to /S/L/E, added the EDID product ID with no success. Still no brightness slider.

[Guide] Laptop backlight control using AppleBacklightFixup.kext

Hi, I've followed through the guide but still don't have a brightness slider on first gen Arrandale HD Graphics on 10.13.1. Injector and SSDT are installed, and PNLF/AppleBacklight shows up in the ioreg.

    New VoodooPS2Controller, Keyboard, Trackpad

This is not a laptop, it is a desktop as mentioned previously. I'm using a keyboard and mouse plugged into PS/2 ports.

    New VoodooPS2Controller, Keyboard, Trackpad

I don't even have a patched DSDT, as there is no need for one currently. But if that's what you say is needed, I'll open a new thread as I have no idea what to edit in the DSDT.

    New VoodooPS2Controller, Keyboard, Trackpad

What part of ACPI? USB keyboards and mice work fine to wake the system. The system is one of those HP Compaq Pro 6300s but the same thing happens on an Elite 8300.

    New VoodooPS2Controller, Keyboard, Trackpad

It works in Windows, but not in macOS. Both mouse and keyboard.

    New VoodooPS2Controller, Keyboard, Trackpad

Is it possible to enable waking from sleep by hitting a key on the keyboard or clicking the mouse? This is on a desktop system with a plain PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 optical mouse.

    pastrychef's testing machine - HP Elite 8300 SFF - i7-3770 - GT 630

Did a reinstall but same thing. It defaulted to extended displays again but after switching to mirroring it works fine. UPDATE: Did another reinstall but this time ran the new MultiBeast and it corrected the issue. No more mysterious built-in display.

    pastrychef's testing machine - HP Elite 8300 SFF - i7-3770 - GT 630

I'm going to reinstall to clean it up but this time I'll use the Macmini6,2 definition instead of the iMac13,1 that I am using now. If it still shows two monitors I'll just set it to mirror like I have currently since it seems to work just fine.

    pastrychef's testing machine - HP Elite 8300 SFF - i7-3770 - GT 630

I got the DisplayPort to DVI-I adapter and it appears to work. The monitor is correctly identified and it wakes up when the machine wakes from sleep. It also sleeps and wakes normally for plain display sleep. However, it still thinks there is a built-in display of the same type, so it wants to...

    pastrychef's testing machine - HP Elite 8300 SFF - i7-3770 - GT 630

Well I decided to go for it and bought a DisplayPort to DVI-I adapter on eBay. I should get it by Monday so hopefully that should do the job. I'll update here when I get it. For a while I was using both the HD 2500 and the dedicated GT 730 in my 6300 SFF without any issues under Windows 10...
