[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) Just wanted to say, my fiddling with the framebuffer tables got reset when I installed Lion, because Lion has a new ATI6000Controller.kext which has different locations for its framebuffer tables. This meant that when I booted up the Lion...

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) I found that -v let me know whether or not there was a major error, but didn't seem to actually boot into the requested framebuffer personality. So I would say no...

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) I'm afraid I don't know about that. I compiled on 10.6.8, I'll try at some point to compile on Lion, but I doubt it would make any difference.

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) I'm pretty sure it's the plain boot file - if you try and read it in a text editor, I think you'll find it's a binary file. Are you sure you've run make after editing ati.c?

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) No, you only need to change the ati.c file once - this is to stop it from being knull - when it is knull, it doesn't seem to load any of the framebuffer personalities you specify. It doesn't have to be the one you end up using, as the plist...

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) It looks like you edited ati.c correctly and copied the boot file correctly - I found that when I did this it stopped a message: "Card not Supported" (or something like that) popping up on boot when GraphicsEnabler=yes was set. You shouldn't...

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) You need to show all files - there's a utility to do that in the MultiBeast install, alternatively follow the instructions from my link to prasys' blog above - he mentions using killall and some other commands I can't remember.... The file you...

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) I haven't tried this but you could try making your own usb dos bootdisk from tonyMac's instructions: http://macmanx86.blogspot.com/2011/07/creating-bootable-dos-usb-stick-on.html and then use AtiFlash -...

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) The root of the drive is the top level of your disk that has Snow Leopard on. ie, cd / in terminal. The boot file that is there is where Chimera and Chameleon do most of their work in starting up the computer into MacOs. Hence, when you...

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) ati.c is in the Chimera source code, in i386/libsaio. You'll need to use svn to check out the code if you haven't got it. Obviously this might be beyond most people. But instructions for doing this are here...

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) Ok, so here is how I got my 6670 card working. Sorry for the long wait, this week turned out busier than I thought it would be! I should probably say that I'm still new to this, and have absolutely no idea if this will work for you...

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) Well, I've been successful with my Sapphire HD 6670 card! I'll post some more info tonight - I had to modify the framebuffer table inside the ati6000controller.kext (this might be because I am only using DVI on my screen), and also change...

[CLOSED] Adding ATI card IDs to Chimera 1.5 ATI.c

Re: Adding ATI card IDs to ATI.c - update (10-May) Well, I've managed to get rid of that - 2 ways: Firstly, simply removing GraphicsEnabler=Yes in the boot.plist file stops the unsupported card coming up, and as far as I can tell, everything still works the same - just no Framebuffer...

    Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3 i5 2500K

If you get a mac keyboard, it will work with windows 7. Wired is easier than wireless to setup, unless you have a dbt-120 and update the firmware on mac os - that will allow you to have a permanent connection to the wireless keyboard for windows 7.
