newer Thinkpads have mainly two differen types of trackpads.
The one which looks like a normal trackpad with integrated Buttons for trackpoint use. (one of those was built in my E540)
And the others which have three extra buttons for trackpoint use. I attached a picture down below.

Got an original used Synaptics Thinkpad Three Button Trackpad.

I know. I installed VoodoPSController.kext in the first place. Deinstalled an tried ApplePS2SmartTouchPad.kext. Right now last one is installed. But technically it did not made a difference to me.

My E540 is working pretty well with 10.14
But my Trackpad gestures do not work at all.
No Scrolling or anything else. Just normal pointing and clicking.
Which is in fact, a little annoying. It makes my using the laptop always with a mouse.
In Pref Pane Trackpad Preferences. Show up...

I know, but system log does not show up any methods, used by Brightness keys.
But I installed, ACPI Debug Kext and referring DSDT Patches as well.
Only thing showing up is systemsoundreserved but in console output.

Had to update Maciasl, did not showed any repo Patches in current version. Installed Patches.
Applied OS Check Fix.
After reboot, System Log does not show up any EC Query Codes, or anything referring to the Keys.
But consoles output for one key: Systemsoundserverd
