Thanks RehabMan. One other thing that is being an annoyance, about 8 times out of 10 when I boot, I get a failed boot message and have to reboot. It will do this maybe 2 or 3 times then it will boot fine. Seen this before?

All I did was run the update, it did kernel panic, I booted back up with the new iboot boot disk, than ran the update again and it completed fine...i think i just got lucky because any other time i got kernel panic from this update, it would not let me back into OSX.

as far as i can remember, I literally used the iboot cd, installed with vanilla snow leopard, ran update as guided in tony's new guide...still got a KP right at the end but the new bootcd must be what let me get back into osx after the KP...soon as I did that i ran the update again, it ran fine...

that is still being worked on to get it working in the first place...it seems like it may not be possible since the new macbook pros have dual video card and it has been said that the things that require qe/ci are passed off to the nvidia card, thus not handled by the intel hd graphics card.

Well I got it to update finally. It paniced on install of the update but when rebooted it let me back into osx, which is odd...so i ran update again and it was successful.

ok that didn't work, still at square one...i remove applesmc.kext and boot hangs with applehda errors...so i assume machine can't boot without applesmc.kext now...any one have any help on this? i will do update again and boot and if it fails i will boot to cd with terminal and read logs for hints...

I found somewhere that stated for someone else with a similar error as mine to boot to darwin prompt hit f8 and type: /sbin/mount -uw / rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleSMC.kext rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext rm -rf /System/Library/Caches/* then reboot. Since we can remove this...
