Hey. I was on Big Sur on my T450s however found it a bit CPU hog.
Reverted to Catalina with P51.
I would suggest prepare a Big Sur installation and try with it. Steps are easy and covered in OC guide. Upgrades as far as I know are often disaster. Would avoid them
Yeah I was not really into these laptop specific things. Honestly it's a massive machine that I only use as a desktop. You would find sleep not working properly etc. I disabled all of this. Shutdown is my way.
If you find some improvements in this area let me know. The guides for this topic are...
Thanks for the reminder. Was unable to attach at first. So resorted to external sharing service.
Also @septicc I confirm the case with NVMe drive. This was the issue. Now patiently waiting for the SATA adapter shipping from China haha. So far I boot from SSD SATA disk in external USB 3 case.
Hmmm... I guess my previous post is either being moderated or got removed
Anyway you got my EFI. I'm super satisfied with it. Try it out.
USB C could be achieved via thunderbolt port. I'm green in these technologies. Maybe there are some guides of how to enable it.
Regarding my approach I use a...
Attached EFI. As for device properties you need to be equipped with the OpenCore tools like ProperTree. If it doesn't work for you right away then you have to resort to this guide: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/config-laptop.plist/kaby-lake.html#deviceproperties
And look...
Definitely. However I'm not a fan of losing time to cope with these endless possibilities. Otherwise the value of the time spent on building hackintosh laptop would exceed a price of a real Mac. There has to be limit haha
What is funny in this case, as I wrote, is that sharing the same hardware...
Thanks but given the amount of errors above the one where it stopped I would revert to my original EFI and try with a SATA drive.
Samsung PM961 appears to be on a macOS blacklist
I will give a try installing some spare SATA SSD. That would be the last resort.
Interesting that sharing nearly the same hardware these hackintosh installation are randomly unpredictable haha
I tried again with your EFI. Actually applied a fix for that APTIO issue with a different driver EFI...
Hi
Every incompatible settings disabled in BIOS as per Kaby lake OC guide.
With my original EFI I was able to get to second step of the installer with a clue from this guide:

Hi @septicc
Thanks again. However with this EFI it's even worse on my P51. Attaching screenshot.
Also this EFI as per comment, was originally made for HP Elliebook 840 G3. Wonder if you're 100% sure it's P51 compatible.
Thanks
Hi @septicc
Thanks for sharing your EFI. I tried to apply this on my USB installer stick however cannot boot with it at all.
I used that with original full installer made on macOS as well as with recovery media.
Attaching screenshot.
Hi,
After a day spent on OpenCore Kaby lake laptop guide with Whatevergreen kext and Catalina, I couldn't pass through the famous gIOScreenLockState 3 where the booting process of the installer just stops. Experimented with dozens of framebuffer configurations with no luck.
@septicc it seems...
