Sorry to hear its not working for you mate :( I will upload my Extra folder when on my comp. Ya know whats wierd though, I dont know weather this will work for you, but when I booted with rBoot my trackpad was fully recognised (I used it because I used an incompatibe DSDT) and I got click etc...
download rBoot and burn it to a dvd/cd and boot from that, see if your trackpad/keyboard (or usb keyboard/mouse) work. then download the kexts for them online somewhere (Or download them in windows and transfer them over through usb)
Well, i did what i said i was gonna do. AND IT WORKED! FULL GESTURE SUPPORT! Its even regocnised as a track pad! I will post a picture when i get wifi working as using phone to post this!
Sorry, im not in the game today :D I didnt realise that id already told you todo that. Try booting it in safe mode (-x) and Verbose (-v) then see if you get any further.

It hangs before you get to the Chameleon screen? Or the disk just stops spinning when your booting up? Have you left it to see if the disk restarts spinning? Try running the installer in -v and see where you get stuck.

as for your question, using time machine is a good way to make a backup yes (renember to do it a different partion!)
the gtx 570 isnt supported in snow leopard, you will have to use lion to get full res etc. Burn it to a dvd instead of using the usb stick and see if you get any further.
hi guys, got some kexts from the install dvd, try them out and see if ya get gestures :) I put them all in a rar package. These are untested because I havnt had time to test them myself, hopefully should work though!
