Right, I thought you said if iBoot didn't recognize it (which it did). But yeah my retail disc wouldn't boot on IDE.
Many other things are broken in Snow Leopard until fixes are applied post-install, I guess this is not one of them :( Too bad. My 4 SATA ports on my motherboard are filled...
iBoot recognized it and I was able to start booting off of the DVD in the IDE drive, but I got "waiting for root device errors" so I had to switch to USB.

I have determined that the IDE Chipset is a VIA VT6330.
Can someone point me in the right direction to get this working?

No I don't, I've searched all over the web and there don't seem to be any specifics. I know with the P965 boards they were virtually all JMicron, but this is the first P55 board I've owned so I really don't know. How might I figure this out?
Hello, I've got to thank the great development work here for giving me a seamless Snow Leopard install (once I figured out that I had to use a USB optical drive cuz the IDE one gave me "waiting for root device" errors).
Now that I'm installed, I"d really like to get my IDE DVD drive working...
