Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

Thanks guys for the assist. I actually had to build a new drive with Mavericks, then "upgrade" to Yosemite... took a few attempts, but it's pretty great!! So here is where I am at: 1. mSATA drive w/ LION - for protools, works perfectly; 2. Samsung SSD with YOSEMITE, works perfectly; a bunch of...

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

Thanks. Tried this. Unfortunately, NG. BUT - an Interesting Update: On a hunch, I thought, let's go back a few versions of MacOS and back to Chimera -- So I generated a UniBeast 5.2 USB with Yosemite. It booted as expected and the OS installed. Perfect! Because I'm a bit masochistic, I will...

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

I started with this very comprehensive guide on how to make a UniBeast https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/unibeast-install-macos-sierra-on-any-supported-intel-based-pc.200564/ I formatted the USB as GUID, to the letter of the guide. I used UniBeast 7.1.1...

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

Hi P1LGRIM, thanks for jumping in on this! I tried the various options for Boot Manager and Device Manager and still am coming up empty. Yes, the boot loader isn't firing. That's my problem. This is what I see in the Boot Manager/Device Manager And it doesn't take me anywhere. The only...

Unable to get UniBeast to boot for new Sierra install?

I was trying to build a dual-boot using a 2nd HD (old OS = Lion, new OS = Sierra) and it was a miserable fail and comedy of errors... I posted this in the dual-boot forum: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/use-different-hdd-for-new-osx-sierra-on-existing-system.223340/ as you can see, I...

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

I'm at a loss... Thinking brute-force can solve this -- 1. I removed all drives -- including the mSATA with LION; 2. I installed a new, wiped SSD, ready for Sierra; 3. I made a UniBeast on my laptop, with latest Sierra just downloaded from AppStore; 4. IN the PC BIOS, set the USB to be the boot...

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

OK. started over: cloned LION to SIERRA drive updated SIERRA to OSX 10.7.5 I can try to launch the install Sierra app (requires a restart) but when it hits the loader (chimera), and I select Sierra, the installer does not proceed. Tried this a few times... MultiBeast Sierra 9.1 requires macOS...

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

AAARGH. Frustration. I tried to make a Sierra UniBeast (legacy), and it appears to have done its thing, but the UniBeast is not seen by my PC. Hmm. I tried making it the only bootable device, no go. If I could simply get the 10.7.4 upgraded to 10.7.5, i could try the clone.

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

I cloned my LION drive to a new SSD using ccc. Downloaded new MultiBeast to the new drive 'SIERRA' application folder. New MultiBeast requires MacOS 10.8 or later. I can't run it. Hmm. OK, so I then tried to copy over the Sierra installer -- but the installer requires OS 10.7.5 (I have 10.7.4)...

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

Got it all... But please pardon this stupid question -- If I have no need for the content or apps from the old Lion drive (Sierra is gonna be an entirely different set of apps and files) -- I have a new Sierra installer file. Is there any reason I shouldn't just consider this a virgin/new drive...

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

Thank you for the almost instant assist! So I will keep using the 5 year old MultiBeast and not mess with Clover or newer versions of MultiBeast? I can disable the mSATA slot after the clone - but why do I want to do this (protecting the data?) Are you suggesting that once Sierra is happy on...

Use different HDD for new OSX Sierra on existing system?

Hey everyone! Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I did a UniBeast for OSX Lion about 5 years ago. It's been working perfectly for years. I have not touched it!! It's running an audio workstation with legacy PCI hardware - and it's an awesome machine... it is running legacy software and I honestly...

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

As I mentioned in the DUC, advice from those with experience is to spend $25 and get a USB dongle. I bought this one: viewtopic.php?p=409380#p409380 And then you have your solution, and it actually sounds good (enough). And you can move on to more important things. :-)

Proposed ProTools HD Sandy Bridge Hack

A followup: For audio -- I chose to get a better quality USB interface (as opposed to the Turtle Beach dongle) - for a few $ more, this puppy actually sounds good! Behringer UCA222 U-Control Ultra-Low Latency 2 In/2 Out USB Audio Interface with Digital Output And Massive Software Bundle...
