SOLUTION: What ended up working was having both Serial Port 1 disabled and XHCI Hand-off enabled. Located here: BIOS -> Peripherals -> Super IO Configuration -> Serial Port 1 BIOS -> Peripherals -> XHCI Hand-off

Thanks, I'll try those settings. For the record, when I boot with the external drive i mentioned plugged into a usb port, it loops on the Gigabyte screen and does not reach the clover screen. Does that reveal any information?

Safe mode freezes at the same screen as verbose mode. I don't see why there would be an issue with the nvidea web drivers, havent made any updates or changes lately.

It goes to that screen (and stays there) when i boot verbose. Doesn't boot, not sure what it's supposed to do.
