read the post I made a couple pages back. I broke down the exact steps to get everything working.
You need the usb ethernet adaptor that came with these laptops. Or I'm sure any other USB ethernet dongle would work.
You need internet during the post installation steps, as pointed out in my...
Here is the compiled steps that I used that worked well for me. Hopefully this will get people over the hump as it did me.
# obviously the first step is to unlock your bios using the method in the darkvoid thread
# you should have advanced menu now. Next set the proper settings in the Bios...
If you unlocked your Bios and your able to access the advanced menu in the Bios, I don't think updating your Bios will matter (I could be wrong).
I will post the steps this evening once I'm home from work.
Thats weird because all the guides I read for unlocking the bios were for the A07. But when I purchased my M3800 (nearly identical to xps-9530) it came w/ the A09. I decided to go ahead and attempt to unlock my A09 bios using the same method as described in this guide. It worked flawlessly...
If your not installing Sierra, you could try booting w/o caches, which is done through the clover boot menu by pressing the space bar. But in Sierra it's not possible to boot w/o caches
Sorry I never had that exact problem, but from reading stannerz post, it looked like he got it working w/ rehabman's advice.
Did you set the DVMT-prealloc in the bios to 160? The thread still says it's set at 128, but it is not. It needs to be 160 to use the darkVoid repo. Maybe message...
Does your screen flicker on when you hit screen brightness up? or Function + Screen brightness button.
If so, you need to navigate bit by bit to the display settings and change the resolution. Or you can use and external monitor to get to the settings, and change the resolution. Hopefully...
I do have the recovery partition. I made and tried many different methods for creating the usb install media. I used both of these methods in this thread, https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/
I think as long as you replace the...
I guess i used the base binary method. I'm not real sure if it matters or not.
But I will warn that I didn't get my build working 100% right away, as I didn't follow the directions exactly. I took short cuts that overall didn't work. So I kept going through all the steps exactly, and finally...
I can't explain this, but I figured I post in case someone else is interested.
My 4k touch screen is working in OSX 10.12.6 on my Precision M3800, which is near identical to the XPS-9530.
I did nothing extra or special other than just use this The-DarkVoid El Capitan git repo and followed all...
If you get the m3800 built from the factory with Windows, it won't come w/ the linux/OSX compatible WIFI card, you'll have to buy/install the broadcom card that works w/ OSX.
F.Y.I. the intel cards either have tons of issues or won't work at all. Intel wifi is the default in the windows model...
Short answer, YES it will work.
I'm on Sierra 10.12.6 on my Dell m3800
I've got my 2015 model m3800 w/ 4k display running nicely using this guide along w/ some of the tips found throughout this thread.
F.Y.I. I was having problems getting display to stay on after everything was done w/...
I have the same MB and cpu as you and can't get to or through the installer. I've tried many things, but to no avail. What did you do to get your system booting mac osx. I can't get to os x screen to install.
I'm trying to use clover, but only because it was said that it was the only way to...
