If you unlocked your Bios and your able to access the advanced menu in the Bios, I don't think updating your Bios will matter (I could be wrong). I will post the steps this evening once I'm home from work.

If your not installing Sierra, you could try booting w/o caches, which is done through the clover boot menu by pressing the space bar. But in Sierra it's not possible to boot w/o caches
