    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

So I went ahead and installed a fresh copy of macOS on another drive and installed Zoom and... I can't believe I'm saying this, but you were 100% right, it works flawlessly. Thanks for the suggestion! So I started installing all sorts of drivers that I use on that fresh OS to see what may be...

I'd agree with the idea that it's a third-party software or driver incompatibility, but the same issue exists when running the OS in Safe Mode. And the crash happens at precisely the exact same moment - once I select what which screen or window to share. Also, no webcam is used on this machine.

Glad to hear it worked for you. In that case it sounds like it has to be something with my configuration. Would you be able to take a look and make any suggestions on where I may have gone wrong? I attached the config.plist and all configuration details to the original post...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

It sure does. On Catalina 10.15.7 I have all the following granted: Camera, Microphone, Accessibility, and Screen Recording. Would be curious to hear whether you're able to share your screen or if it crashes on your end as well. (It's enough to start a meeting without anybody in it and attempt...

I actually did exactly that myself earlier today. No success. The bug still comes up each time. :geek:

Hi @CaseySJ I've got a weird bug where anytime I try to share my screen during a Zoom call, the Zoom app just completely crashes. I've tried this in Safe Mode and the same happens. It doesn't matter if I'm sharing any of my windows or a particular application, the app always crashes with exactly...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hi @CaseySJ I finally had a moment to upgrade to OpenCore (and upgrade the BIOS to version F9g). On the whole, the system is stable. But just as before on Clover, the CPU averages out at 10% usage, even under intense computing tasks. I've attached the new EFI. Please help. Thanks!

Very interesting. I followed the main guide which only mentions Clover in the instructions. Happy to try upgrading to OpenCore. I see you linked to this post before: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/success-gigabyte-designare-z390-thunderbolt-3-i7-9700k-amd-rx-580.316533/page-2663#post-2183794...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

macOS Catalina 10.15.7 Yes. It was happening exactly the same on every version of Mojave before. Build Hardware: Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz Eight-Core LGA 1151 Processor. Motherboard: Z390 Designare. Case: Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C. Power Supply: EVGA 750 G3. Graphics Card: Radeon...

@CaseySJ This really is baffling me. The slow behavior continues in all apps. Loading emails, files, apps, etc. Running GeekBench gave me interesting results. The arrow in the screenshot below shows you when the test started. There was practically no visible uptick in CPU activity. I am aware...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

The weird thing though is I also have certain apps that require sweet CPU loads to load/render (non-graphical) content (like MAMP Pro). These apps are instead taking longer times and using up really low amounts of CPU. Nothing ever seems to really go above a total 15% CPU load, which seems like...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Thanks for the explanation @CaseySJ - yes, the sluggishness still happens. For example, right now, I opened System Preferences. The main window opened fast, but then clicking on any of the sub-sections gave me the spinning wheel and took ~15 seconds to load the sub-section. I've experienced the...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ that's exactly the bizarre thing, that nothing is really using up any CPU. I've had Logic Pro X and Firefox open for a few days, but otherwise, the bigger CPU Time usage is coming from kernel_task. As you can see the overall CPU usage is really sitting on ~97% idle. The few bumps you...

    [SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

@CaseySJ So I decided to do a brand new clean install of Catalina, but rather than just running an updated, I wanted to essentially start everything from scratch. I followed the build guide step-by-step and got everything running beautifully. But just as before, I have one bizarre issue: my CPU...

Good to know! Since I have an AMD RX 580 with an i9-9900, I went with the iMac19,1 with Platform ID 0x3E980003. Seems like it was the closest setup. Thanks!
