So the big thing I'm worried about is my RAM, but my last build was in 2011. My dad is still happily using that build.
I was going to buy components (or wait for the next intel release) to start a new build.
But I figured I have a lot of available components so why spend money on starting from...
Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install
Also is there a suggested process for installing Windows 7, when OS X lion is already installed.
I will be installing Windows 7 on a separate SSD, so I wasn't sure if I should still follow the tonymac instructions
Re: Audio Interfaces.........
Well this build is actually for my dad and he used ProTools about 8-9 years ago. Although I have Logic so in an effort to perhaps save some money I was thinking of trying to get him to use Logic instead.
I believe he wanted 8 inputs, but I will have to verify...
Re: Audio Interfaces.........
Any recommendations on an Audio Interface that works well with Lion, I Know its still early. I have an old digidesign from ProTools, but I wonder if an Audio device going through PCI-E would be better because of the newer hardware?
Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install
I have Lion running fine now, my only question is about Internet. Do I need to change any settings on my router to get it to work?
I have .90 from Lnx2Mac installed, and my local IP address is showing up, but there is no internet...
So... I found my problem. I skipped SL and went straight into a Lion install, what I found was that suddenly my monitor disappeared. I was very curious as to why...
I was using an older Dell with VGA output and DVI adapter... I switched to my new Panasonic Plasma, I could see everything now...
Re: Guide: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 with ATI 6870 - Clean Lion Install
Hey Gordo, I was wondering if you were able to install a stable Snow Leopard with your system?
We have the exact same components (except I have the 2600k) and I was having so much trouble with the SL, I figured I'd follow your...
I guess what confuses me is that there is several guides out there for my exact configuration. And everyone else reports about having minimal problems getting it working. So I guess its tough to figure out why I am running into so many obstacles.
I was really frustrated after the first two...
Alright so I typed -x, -v using iBoot, and snapped a photo before the system hung up.
Appears to have something to do with the Ethernet?
I installed Lnx2Mac's .6 driver because it came with Multi-beast maybe next time I will directly install their .9 driver.
Yikes I Hope it wasn't the card, I waited 2.5 weeks for this puppy!
Thank you for the encouragement, as of right now... I just can't get into SL anymore,
Would it be wise to try to skip SL, and perhaps go straight into a Lion install? Or will I experience similar issues until I resolve them...
Alright, well I re-installed Snow Leopard
and followed this guide verbatim
viewtopic.php?f=54&t=32407
after I installed Multibeast and restarted, I removed iBoot, the apple screen showed up, lingered for 30 seconds, and then the screen went black.
So I followed everything closely up until picking the right Multibeast setup, I believe I may have clicked a few of the wrong options. I have been trying to get back into SL using iBoot with spotty success.
I have read about a few others having issues, but basically the way the problem presents...
I Re-burned iBoot at 1x speed, I replugged my Keyboard and Mouse, and typed -x after switching the iBoot disk to SL and it's currently installing...
still baffled what was wrong.
