.. to explain further...
Mac is the host, Linux is the guest.
Tried with several different Virtualbox network configurations - NAT is fine, it's only when I switch to Bridged that the network on my Hackintosh dies.
After a few days of running with no issues, I'm encountering issues when trying to run virtualbox.
On first starting up Virtualbox, my network died - I put it down to router issues and rebooted, network worked again.
Now, obviously, Virtualbox installs network drivers, so I suspect that this...
Did you install EasyDSDT or UserDSDT ?
Either way, try boot in with these flags:
-v DSDT=NO
If you can get in with that, your on your way to resolving the issues.
1. How long did you wait on the blue screen ? I've known it to take 5 minutes then suddenly kicks into the desktop
2. Did you follow the combo update guide? iow, install 10.6.8 from a downloaded combo update and then run multibeast?
3. Do you have a backup prior to install of 10.6.8?
4. Can you...
I'm going to skip Lion for some time - no real point.
A lot of the updates are related to gestures - plus my GF has had a number of issues with Lion on her iMac, 10.6.8 is good for another year whilst Lion matures a bit :)
All I really wanted was my Macbook pro back (which I sold due to...
Don't use the Software update from the apple menu, download the 10.6.8 combo update and install that, then run multibeast.
Also, instead of re-installing all the time, try to boot from iBoot with flags:
-v DSDT=NO
That's the mistake I was making - continually re-installing, which takes ages...
Have you tried the info from that thread I linked?
Work through it slowly and carefully - however, it was Nvidia specific I think?
Have you been getting the same pci config error on -v boot?
Can you boot in using iBoot ?
That's the most important thing - if you can get your system up using...
Re: Followed customac install to the letter, no luck, frustrated
I should note here, that interestingly enough, my initial thought that it was Nvidia card right back in my first post of this thread was correct!
Despite a few (well meaning) people telling me it wasn't, it turns out ... it was...
Re: Followed customac install to the letter, no luck, frustrated
No, but do this:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=28892&start=0
Boot from iBoot with -v DSDT=NO
Run the updatehelper
Run the 10.6.8 combo
Then follow the instructions in that link I posted.
Most important, as it says, don't select the...
Yes!
Nice one akhilv1!
If I'd known this three days ago, my build would've taken 2 hours including hardware assembly!
My only concern now, of course, is how 'upgradable' is my rig now there's 1.6.7 kexts in a 10.6.8 install?
That's the one area where I just don't know enough - if I run any...
Re: Followed customac install to the letter, no luck, frustrated
I think you'll still need a DSDT file regardless.
I've just tested by removing the DSDT file from Extras and rebooting - boots without requiring flags, except graphics are at lowest res - the same as your experiencing.
I've got...
Re: Followed customac install to the letter, no luck, frustrated
Back onto this again today :)
dschneid, any luck with your install?
Ok, quick update for me - should've been obvious really...
iBoot no longer required now install is done, as I can boot from HD with the same options as iBoot to...
