or perhaps deleting the relevant AMD kexts would help?

    dual AMD / NVIDIA config

Has anyone got any suggestions for how to get this to work: 2 GPUs: 1 (unsupported) Radeon 6950, and another supported Nvidia card (either 8600gts or GT 430, not sure). Basically, I only want the nvidia card to be used in lion, while I'll use the radeon card in windows (and the nvidia one for...

my kexts are just whatever came with lion download, I didn't install any particular ones. I suggest you just install all the ATI kexts from the lion package using a program like kext helper

Mine's a sapphire too. That's odd. Did you delete the other kexts and then put them back? Because that might cause problems

The workaround for youtube is to disable flash acceleration. I did this by using an old nvidia card that worked properly. The workaround for iTunes is to use Songbird or Clementine :) But I would do that ANYWAY... Dunno about VLC

All I did was delete the correct GLDriver.bundle file in /S/L/E, leaving all other kexts in place. Then, I made sure I booted with GraphicsEnabler=No, and on the 2nd reboot it worked properly, full res and multi-monitor. Animations are all smooth (except for going into fullscreen in some apps)...

6950=limited as well, mine works just as well (or just as poorly) as a 6970 :) :( Full resolution but no QE/CI.

well, either you can use windows and MacDrive (I think they have a 10 day trial), or you can: -Try get basic VGA support by entering -x as a switch when you boot -Log in to single user mode (command line) by entering -s as a switch.

    HD 6950/HD 6970 Support

In fact, hotplugging displays (I've only tested a total of 2 displays so far) works, you can have dual screens etc etc. It's pretty much perfect for non-accelerated stuff

Build advise for 3d programs and movie watching

Well, if you get QE/CI working properly, it should be more than sufficient for everyday needs. It won't play games properly, but everything else should work nicely. The new Macbook Air's come with HD3000 graphics, so it would basically run like a top of the line macbook air in terms of graphics...

    HD 6950/HD 6970 Support

yup, running at 1080p as we speak :) There are some issues, of course, like flash not working nicely (you have to disable acceleration for it to work properly, but then it's slow). I think this is a good workaround until we (hopefully) eventually get full QE/CI

The best idea is to delete the file ATIRadeonX3000GLDriver.bundle from /System/Libraries/Extensions and boot with GraphicsEnabler=No. This will give full resolution support but no acceleration.
