Hi all,
I'm still running High Sierra on my system (which is obviously quite old now), but not planning to upgrade the HW. I do however need to update my OS so that I can backup my iphone.
Would my system work?
Apologies if this is an obvious answer, but as you can guess I've been out of the...
Thank you so much, Orochimarufan! It looks like it also fixed my slow/intermittent speed on my TP-Link AC1300 T6e Archer.
Now to see if I can get my to recognise as a native card, because it's still showing as Third Party Card.
I'm facing the exact same problem - my T6E Archer (AC1300) works fine on Windows (20Mbps), but pathetically slow on Yosemite. The first speedtest couple of days ago gave 3-4Mbps... today it gave 0.3Mbps. My iPhone was giving better speeds. Something isn't right!
Hi guys,
I previously installed kexts and the DWA-140 Wireless Utility for my TP-Link USB Wifi dongle. I've since upgraded to the Archer T6E.
As such I no longer need the wireless utility. How do I go about removing the bars from the menu bar? I've managed to remove the utility from my system...
Sounds like that's the best way.
On the other hand, since I'm on OSX most of the time, maybe I'll format the drive in HSF+ and install Paragon HFS+ instead.
Does anyone here has had any experience with it before?
Edit: Just saw the reply from you, Neil. Seems like people mostly recommend...
Hi P1LGRIM,
Thanks for the reply! What would be the best way to do it then? Should I use FAT instead? I'm using exFAT because it would be holding to a large number of video files that I need to work on both platforms (some being larger than 4GB).
Hi Stork,
Just saw your reply (somehow I stopped getting email notifications). Going to try that out.
Update: Turns out my system was already set to "Enable" for Peripherals. No luck with that. =( My system stopped freezing after I tried Clover. However, after making an update the problem is...
Hi all,
I have had my internal hdd went rogue twice - the system is not able to mount it and it gives me an error. It is formatted in exFAT.
Both times it happened, it was working fine before, until the next boot. I noticed the drive would be missing on boot, and Disk Utility wouldn't be able...
Update:
I was getting a lot of random freezes on my build. More specifically, it became quite predictable when I tried to create a bootable USB of Yosemite using Unibeast. It was never successful - my system would freeze up halfway.
After much research I decided to try Clover. Happily, making...
Oh yes, you are SO right! That is one critical step that I missed! I was myself lost at that step too!
I did include that step in my original write up, but I guess I missed it when I rewrote it in the current format. Thanks for pointing that out!
Here's an update on my USB situation: I have since experienced none of the above problems after switching to the USB3.0 port. It seems like there are some issues with the 2.0 ports?
Edit: It seems like the problem appears when I plug in my ext hdd. Mouse/keyboard working fine -> Plugs in ext...
Whoops. I should have made myself clear; I'm actually using "windows" MK520 combo.
Anyway after some trial and error I realized the problem only surfaces when the system is in "high load". For example, I first noticed this when I was transferring a large amount of photos from my external hdd...
Hi Stork,
There is a small problem that has just started to surface. I am using a Logitech wireless keyboard+mouse combo (with the universal USB dongle). Everything was great until a few days ago. My mouse/keyboard would get "disconnected" every once in a while and I would need to power it off...
I've got you to thank! Wouldn't have gotten this far without your post!
By the way, I've written a build description for my system. I've referenced quite a bit of information from your post. I hope you don't mind!
