Actually, the bios was printed on the back of my board. Even thought the Nvidia inspector showed a slightly different bios version they both started with 80.10 (rev A) and not 80.80 (rev B). I can only speak to my EVGA, maybe other makes don't print the default bios.
Anyways, I only mention...
When I took a chance and bought my 780 GTX from CL, I saw that the board came with the bios starting with 80.10... and not 80.80... like the ver B1 boards.
BTW, yes my preview is working after I updated to 10.9.1. I think it'll be next near to impossible to get the older Rev A1 boards...
I took the risk and bought the GTX 780 card off of Craigslist (see below for model). Thankfully, it worked!!!
So, the only way to get a rev A1 may be through CL if you can find someone who is cool enough to send you a screenshot of their NVidia Inspector. If the NI says it's revision A1...
Does anyone know if the NVIDIA inspector in Windows accurately tells which revision the 780 GTX is? I've found a card on Craigslist and the owner emailed me the attached screenshot.
As you can see the GPU is GK110 and the Revision is A1, but is that accurate? Hate to get it and have it crash...
