I had the same issues -- nothing worked -- until I turned off UEFI in the Bios and set it to boot to legacy only...once I did this, i went through all the steps again...had to add the SMsystemuuid to the smbios.plist...and then I was good to go...

Type: 7870 Brand: XFX DeviceID: 0x68181002 Status: Graphics working, not sure about HDMI audio Installed in my z77x-UP5 TH...set BIOS to init internal, disable internal. Runs great -- full boot screens, etc (though this was unexpected, and I'm not really sure why it's the case).
