Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 Install problems

Hi,
I am brand new to this and I'm stuck. Followed the guide for installing Mavericks 10.9.1 to the letter. Unibeast did its thing, and Mavericks was loaded onto a brand new drive. The installer rebooted the computer, but nothing happened. Now my system will not start at all - no BIOS screen, no boot to Windows (which has been running on this machine for over a year), nothing. The system powers up and the fans come on, but nothing else. :banghead:

My build:
MOBO: GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
CPU: i7-2700K
RAM: 16Gb Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz DDR3 (4x4Gb)
1TB WD Blue HD (clean, formatted as part of OSX install a few minutes ago)
GPU: XFX HD7950 DD (x1 since my second card died!)
Kingston HyperX SDD (used only for Win 7 OS)
2TB Seagate Barracuda (Storage for Windows install)

Any and all help is most appreciated!

Did you try to do a BIOS reset?

Yes. I did a CMOS reset using the jumpers which produced no results. Then tried resetting the BIOS by removing the battery on the MOBO per Gigabyte's instructions - still nothing. The system will not POST.

I did with no success. HOWEVER I did figure out the problem. It looks as though by the magic of technological coincidence alone that one of my GPUs died exactly at the reboot point of the installation process.:-X

I have now removed it and seem to have had some success. I now have a Mavericks desktop and I am going through Multibeast as we speak (just have to figure out which configuration to use).

All kinds of new problems!
When I do a regular reboot I get the boot0 gibberish problem. This (going by the searches I have done so far) seems to be related to the Radeon HD7950 card that I am using. When I tried to implement the fix (put Chameleon Wizard on the the USB) I get a kernel panic when trying to boot from the Mavericks drive (set up per install guide).

Did I do the Multibeast steps wrong?

Now what?

When Using AMD 7*** series cards, place the boot loader and extra folder on the EFI partition of your drive:

OK, making some progress (I think). However when following the guide (thanks Adrian B.!) I get to step 3.6 when I get the following message:

bash-3,2# fdisk -f boot0 -u-y/dev/rdisk0
fdisk: illegal option -- -

I apologise for my complete noobishness, but what is happening and how do I fix it? I am quite new to using the terminal, so I mounted the EFI using EFI Mounter. To be as specific as possible the command I typed in as above should be read like this:
fdisk<space>-f <space> boot0 <space>-u-y/dev/rdisk0

Thanks for your patience and your assistance.

It sounds like your EFI partition is not where it should be. This could be due to a number of reasons. Have you confirmed this step

EFI GUIDE said:
STEP 1: BEFORE YOU BEGIN

For the purposes of this guide, I recommend unplugging all drives except your main hard drive and rebooting. This will minimize any problems with disk number and partition number. I will use disk0 by default in this guide.

To make sure your disk is identified as disk0:

  • Open /Utilities/Terminal
  • Type diskutil list
Remove/disconnect any other drives from your build and ensure that your OS X disk is connected to Sata 0 on the motherboard.

I disconnected the other drives prior to starting the process, and it looks like part of the problem was my poor typing skills. I started the process over and this time it worked - kind of. Now that I have rebooted the system i get the boot0 error again. Not the gibberish this time - which I will take as a sign of progress.

What next?

EDIT: I am tempted to follow the steps of the boot0 error OfficiaL Guide, but I'm not sure, given that things are now (or at least should be) on drive0s1, not drive0s2. Does this even matter? (Hows that for a noob question!)

EDIT2: OK, now the system wont boot even using the USB in place. I keep getting kernel panics when I try to boot from the Mavericks drive. Could really use some advice here on how to proceed.
