When I double click on the icon it says “MultiBeast” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

What did I do wrong that would make this happen?

Apple menu > System Preferences… > Security & Privacy > General tab under the header "Allow applications downloaded from:"
Select Anywhere

I don't like enabling applications from anywhere. I'd rather approve on a case-by-case basis. To do this, just right click the application and choose Open, instead of double clicking. It will give you a warning box, but you can click OK and the app will launch.

You actually don't have to do that anymore.

Once you click on an app, and it gives you that error..

Go to the same spot above they are talking about, and you will see something that says "APPNAME was trying to install...words words words..." and you can click "Allow" and it will launch that app again. This way you can keep your settings secure, but still let that 1 app install and you do not have to change your settings.
