Hi,

I have the following build working on 10.8.5 installed with UniBeast 2.1.0 and configured with MultiBeast 5.5, audio will be through an external USB sound card.

2U Rack Mount case
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3P
Intel Core i3-3225
4GB RAM, 32GB SSD
2 x EVGA GeForce 210 DDR3, low profile
Corsair CX500M PSU

The 2 GeForce 210's are both recognised with monitors connected to the VGA and DVI + VGA adaptor for 4 working screens.

Ideally I would like to add a 5th screen using the internal (motherboard) VGA or DVI connection. The discreet graphics cards will be used for video output and the internal connection for the OS and control application.

Can anyone give me pointers on how to configure the org.chameleon.Boot.plist to use both the internal and discreet GPU's. Currently I have the Bios set to 'Auto' for the onboard graphics and GraphicsEnabler = Yes.

The build is for low resolution VJ, Live Cinema, video installation use.

The alternative is to replace the GeForce 210's with another pair which can support 3 outputs per card, one suggestion is the SAPPHIRE HD 7750 1GB Low profile card. Can anyone confirm 6 outputs from this card with 2 installed?

UPDATE
----------------------------------------

I now have 4 VGA (2 x GeForce 210) and 1 x DVI (motherboard) working. The VGA ports need to be connected to a monitor/projector on boot to be recognised. The VGA on the motherboard is not working, not bothered to test the HDMI.

org.chameleon.Boot.plist

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>IGPEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>IGPlatformID</key>
<string>0166000A</string>

Credit goes to this post for getting the internal DVI working:

The IGPlatformID works for the HD4000 but I cant get the actual ID from the motherboard as IORegistryExplorer hangs.

Audio is still via an external USB sound card.

The last addition will be a Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Recorder (low profile) for live video input. This will require a mod to the 2U rack case to free up the PCIe slot, a new hole will be cut for one of the VGA connectors just above the motherboards audio inputs. RAM and CPU may need to be upgraded at some time in the future.

Thanks,

TFM

Hi toleda,

I was hoping you would jump in. I saw a post where you had mentioned the 7750 and thats why I was considering it, the 210's are working well but a 5th output would make the build a solid low cost option until we find out the street price for the new Mac Pro.

Do you think its possible to use one of the motherboards outputs or should forget about this and add a Matrox Dual or TripleHead2Go?

Cheers and thanks for the amazing work on the hardware, code and forum.

I now have 5 screens working thanks to the following post:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/378-new-intel-hd-graphics-boot-flags-chimera.html

4 x VGA via GeForce 210, 1 x DVI via HD4000

BIOS

Init Display First = IGFX

org.chameleon.Boot.plist

<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>IGPEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>IGPlatformID</key>
<string>0166000A</string>

The GeForce 210's work well for a 4 x 640x480 low resolution canvas (2560x480) in VDMX, however careful use of layers, FX and content preparation will be needed for the basic graphics cards and to make sure the GUI keeps working. Tip always use a midi control surface to turn on/off layers and FX if the GUI locks up or gets sluggish.

Cheers,
