Haswell-E + X99 Motherboard Temporary Guide - OS X 10.9.4 / 10.9.5

UniBeast will not support audio. However, installing Chimera on a USB/Legacy boot with the correct org.chameleon.Boot.plist audio setting will work with a patched X99/1150 S/L/E/AppleHDA.kext.

AppleHDA.kext not loading is a different problem; try permissions and cache.

I'll troubleshoot a bit today. Thanks, Toleda.

Hi Samtimbaud,

I followed your advice and now have a fully functioning Hac booting directly from SSD. However I can't overclock my 5960X on a Asus X99A to over 3.82 GHz no matter how I change the different values in Bios. In Win 4.3 GHz. I also cannot get sound to work. My Corsair H100i cooler fans are always running in full speed and nothing in the Bios and Win can change that.

Can you help me with my problems?

Much obliged.

Hi Samtimbaud,

I meant to say in Win 4.3 GHz is no problem.

Hello guys, I'm novice in the hackintosh and I have Asus X99A motherboard. I'm trying to install the Mavericks with the latest Clover but I always stuck on "root device uuid is XXXXX" ++++++ and nothing helps. I already tried to read various manuals / procedures for several hours but I'm pretty much stucked. What is a recommended way to install the mavericks on the X99A motherboard?

drcmma: I see you have the same mainboard, would you mind to share some info how to begin? (I cannot make private messaging in case you would find some time to write me my mail is [email protected])

I just followed the guide at the start of this thread except I couldn't add the VoodooTSCSync.kext to the Unibeast USB and so I just added the flags npci=0x2000 and cpus=1 at boot. When I finished installing 10.9.5 and copying the mach_kernel into my SSD I booted with the USB and same flags into the SSD and post-installed with Multi-beast. I chose MacPro 6.1 and installed the NullCPUPowerManagement.kext, otherwise I followed closely the X79 guide. But Multibeast failed to install the VoodooTSCSync.kext and I had to install it with Kext Utility. Then I modified Boot.plist by adding npci=0x2000 to Kernel Flags and mach_kernel to Kernel. After that I have a fully working and stable 10.9.5 system except no sound.

Then I formatted a M2 SSD as 1 partition MBR and used CCC to clone my first SSD to this second SSD and install Bootloader from Multibeast. Now I can boot into this M2 SSD without the USB. So I think there is no need to hassle with Clover which I have tried unsuccessfully with my X79 system trying to get rid of the USB.

Actually I have a third SSD on which I installed Win 7 because I want to tackle my overclocking and noisy cooler fans problem but to no avail. Anyhow I now have a fully working dual boot system.

Hope all this can help.

thank you very much - one more info - "otherwise I followed closely the X79 guide" which guide exactly? Procedure is the same like for the X99A?

Have you tried disabling Speed step in bios? Because thats the only way to get your clock past stock if you don't want to change bclk ratio(as far as I know). I only changed cpu ratio when I overclocked to 4.5 and then disabled speed step for it to work without turbo mode.

Hope it helps.

Hi alexxo - I see you have also the same mainboard x99-a asus - is your usb3 and audio working? Did you have to do anything special or you proceed exactly according to this guide? Btw I also see you have GT 760 - do you have full acceleration out of the box? I would like to create some detailed manual how to install maverick on Asus X99-A and haswell-E once I pass all issues.

well I was able to boot to installed macos and did multibeast but I'm not sure what modules to choose so I tried to choose which I thought I should choose but the system frozen during the multibeast. Any tips / guide what to choose in the multibeast for X99 ?

I have everything working except the Audio on X99A asus. I have found some script which is patching the apple kext and I can see audio controls now but nothing is playing in any of the output link.

edit: interesting is that the microphone is working ( I see UV meter when I talk) but the audio output is not working in any of output combination settings and plugging rear/front etc. any ideas appreciated :)
