[UPDATED] Hot Swap on Mavericks and Intel Z87

Hey, any of you got your HDDs hot swappable on Mavericks? I don't and it irritates me...

My setup:
HDD rack connected to motherboard GA-Z87X-UD5H, using the Intel Series 8 Chipset for SATA3 and enabling the Hot Swap and external device functionality in the BIOS for every port.
Tried also with the Marvell chipset, won't hot swap neither.
Tried with an add-on PCIe card from MSI having 2 SATA3 ports. Does not hot swap.
I even don't have the EJECT icon on every disk anymore like I use to.

So, have you had any success with hot swapping hard drives in Mavericks or am I chasing oblivion? I had the thing working on my hackintoshes since long ago (leopard I guess), this is the 1st time I'm encountering the issue.

Oh, and I'm not using a DSDT this time around. Do I have to do it? What are the benefits on the Haswell platform?(everything's working for me except for the hotswap).

Did you use the orange icon fix?

Why would I do that? I don't have any external disks detected. Everything appears internal without "eject" buttons. I actually want them to appear external if it helps me hot swap them.

No one needs/tried this on Mavericks? Come-on guys..

I don't have Z87 but what works for me is :
Enable hot swap in BIOS
Apply the orange icon fix from Multibeast - IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext
The drives don't show the eject symbol but I can right click them and select Eject from the menu.

Good Luck

I guess the orange icon fix is for people who have there internal HDDs show up as external. I want the opposite.
Still I will try this after PJALM gives me his feedback. Thanks.

I use hotswap on both my z77 and z87 builds and no Orange Icon fix and works perfect, you just can't swap the booted OS drive.

Could you give us a little more details on how come you have it and I do not?
I have got the GA-Z87X-UD5H + Haswell CPU and I followed the Mavericks install tutorial from here.

I added through Multibeast:
ALC898, 3rd Party SATA, Trim Enabler, FackeSMC, AppleIntelE100e, RTC Patch

I use these boot options:
Generate CPU States, Hibernate Mode = Desktop, IGPEnabler = No, Use KernelCache, Verbose

My System Definition is Mac Pro 3.1

What do you think, maybe the system definition?

You installed that ' 3rd Party SATA' kext with the Orange Icon fix in it, remove it.

I also use Macmini6,2 for my Ivy and iMac14,2 for my Haswell for proper Power Management.

Thank you soooo much!
It was the 3rd_party_SATA Kext that caused the issue. Removing it did the job!

*** UPDATE ***

Ok... Not quite.
I removed the 2 Kexts 3rdPartySATA and eSATA and now I have all my disks appear as external with eject buttons, which is a huge step forward for me.
The issue now is that hot swapping still does not work. I can eject successfully but I can't plug in another HDD and have it mount automatically, even manually I still can't get it to mount.
In System Reports/SATA/SATA Express, I've got the rack disk show as Removable Media but not Detachable :(
Any clue?
