GTX 780 crashes Premiere Pro CC

You probably don't have a B then, or you're getting the rare fluke I had where it just works (very rarely). If it is a B, i wouldn't reboot for as long as possible cause it probably won't work after. I could never figure out what made it work like 2 sessions out of 100. If it's not a B, you should be good to go.

Well this has all made pretty grim reading - having built the HackPro primarily for AE and Premiere... Reading this thread a while back it sounded like mavericks upgrade would fix the problems but sounds like this is not the case. Am I right in thinking from the posts here that everyone is experiencing the same problems - apart from a few lucky individuals with a rev 'B' card?
And there is hope this will be fixed by nvidia with updated drivers? Otherwise feels like I've bought a rather expensive mistake and will need to get a different card...

cheers

I am not sure how you came to those conclusions. It is the people with the newer Rev B cards that have the problem. Basically nvidia did a silent update that affects all new (but not the first runs) GTX 780 cards. It also affects ALL GTX 780 Ti since there was never a "Rev A" version of that card. GTX TITAN is probably all "Rev A". Though it is possible they will start producing Rev B versions it seems unlikely. Therefore all TITAN and first run GTX 780 are working fine in mavericks. It is also almost unthinkable that the Rev B chips won't be supported in the very near future, whenever significantly newer drivers make it into the OS (maybe 10.9.1, maybe not).

Thanks mate, that's what I was hoping to read. No idea either probably traveling for the last 36hours has not helped the sense of doom and gloom. Will report back on how upgrade to mavericks goes on my system when I'm home again!

well sat down today and updated to Mavericks. Am very very happy to report that after updating i booted up premiere CC and it launched and ran without issue... really great to finally be able to make the most of this card, just hope the updates come soon for those of you with the rev b cards and all the issues!

Hi guys, I have the GTX 780 WindForce OC (rev. 2.0) and faced with the problem. On 10.9 pictures can not be opened, it works in a strange. I did not take any action aimed at setting the video card, screen resolution - very correctly defined, the data on the video card too. But the problem remains.

I really tried to understand this subject, but I could not. Tell me please, what is the result? That at the moment? This problem can be solved somehow?

There's no solution yet, you have to wait for updated nvidia drivers as far as I know, but even that might not fix it. Take a look at the known to work models on the Buyer's guide and try to get one of those or just wait for a few weeks and see.

Here's another thread that you might find useful http://forum.netkas.org/index.php/topic,7527.0.html

Thanks you for answer!

Good news about the GTX Titan. I just upgraded to Mavericks and can confirm that Premiere Pro CC is working again. No crashes. CUDA Mercury Playback works as well. I can finally get back to work using the Titan instead of my trusty 680.

Looks like it's just the GK110B chip affecting some 780's and all the 780 Ti's.

You got lucky and got an old stock GK110A version of the Titan. All newer stock uses the GK110B GPU. People reading this should not count on getting a GK110A out of a Titan at this time.

While you might be correct about this, there is a good chance there is not and will never be a rev B for TITAN. TITAN uses it's own stack/release of the GK110 with better FP64 support and a number of cores enabled that is different than any other version of the chip. It is a fairly low volume part and there simply may never be a B rev done to it. Unless we hear of any reports of someone getting a rev B TITAN, it is the safest card to get right now if you need OpenCL support and want GK110 performance.
