this is a recap of everything that we collaborated on and figured out here:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...art-installation-gigabyte-p55m-ud2-f11-2.html

use the standard Mavericks guide, with these additions.

1] build the unibeast USB install drive. i selected legacy USB support, but not sure if this was a factor or not.

2] download and rename the DSDT file to DSDT.aml and copy it to the USB drive /Extra folder. [this fixes the kb/mouse issue on first boot]

3] boot to USB using these flags:
GraphicsEnabler=Yes, cpus=1, -x, -v

4] when you are ready for "first boot" of mavericks, use these flags:
GraphicsEnabler=Yes, PCIRootUID=1, IGPEnabler=No, Graphics Mode=1680x1050x32, -x, -v
you may end up typing in the blind, as the box for flags is not long enough, just type slowly. replace the Mode numbers with the default/native rez of your monitor.

5] use the attached image for the multibeast options.

enjoy.

Hi,

Thanks for your input.
I followed your guidelines for the P55M-UD2 and it works flawlessly - except for sleep...
When going into the sleep the display turned off correctly but the harddisk and cpu (vent) keeps running. The wakeup works fine.

Any ideas?

yeah, use darkwake=0 at Kernel Flags.

yeah, use darkwake=0 at Kernel Flags.

Has no effect at all. The behaviour is that display goes off quickly, computer stops after 15-20 secs. When woken up it reboots - so it looks like it actually shutdown rather than sleeping.

My org.chameleon.Boot.plist:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
<key>EthernetBuiltIn</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>IGPEnabler</key>
<string>No</string>
<key>Kernel</key>
<string>mach_kernel</string>
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>darkwake=0 PCIRootUID=1</string>
<key>Legacy Logo</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>Timeout</key>
<string>2</string>
<key>GenerateCStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>GeneratePStates</key>
<string>Yes</string>
<key>UseKernelCache</key>
<string>Yes</string>
</dict>
</plist>

I also tried to set darkwake=1 - no difference.

Thanks

Sleep working partially now(but its taking 10+ seconds for the hard drive/fans to power down if manually selecting "Sleep") it wakes up fine. Problem is if sleep auto engages and I let it sit for awhile then it does not wake up properly, the screen opens and the mouse pointer spins and never stops spinning so lose keyboard/mouse functions forcing a reboot. Had the same issue in 10.8. Tried the “darkwake=8” at Kernel Flags which wakes up for a minute fine but then get an infinite spinning mouse pointer forcing reboot. Also repaired permissions but no change.

Under System Preferences > Energy Saver > check the "Start up automatically after a power failure" box. The check box was changed to unchecked during the upgrade to 10.9 and this solution has been a historical sleep fix for the P55M-UD2.

Thanks for the summary was able to upgrade successfully using steps 1 through 3, then it auto re-booted and came up after a few minutes of grey screen inactivity so never needed step 4.

Changed BIOS HPET setting from 32 bit to 64 bit as Mavericks 10.9 only supports a 64 bit HPET setting.

Just wanted to say thanks, worked perfectly!

The darkwake setting has changed starting with 10.7 or 10.8 (not sure which.) I found this http://www.tonymacx86.com/general-h...can-break-auto-sleep-10-8-1-a.html#post447117 darkwake setting thread. I haven't tried Mavericks, but on Mountain Lion 10.8.5, a setting of darkwake=8 on my GA-P55M-UD4 works flawlessly. I noticed that sleep was sometimes slow to enter after I first installed ML, but has now become very quick. If you search the Apple support boards, other people have the same issue and have tracked it to indexing that the OS does after a first install.

The Energy setting "Start Up Automatically ..." did the trick on my P55M-UD2. Sleep now works perfectly although it takes about 10secs to power down.

Upgraded to Mavericks today on my P55M-UD2. It was very painless. I used my DSDT on my USB stick, and a lot of these steps were unnecessary for me:

1. Did not have to select legacy USB
2. Did not have to use any boot flags at any point.
3. In Multibeast options, the only thing I had to add was the Realtek audio driver. Nothing else was necessary.
