DrDrumm: You are indeed the doctor!!! I followed your detailed instructions to the letter and everything went smoothly. I am looking at a nice, clean Mountain Lion Desktop. Wow, what a relief and I am so grateful for your help. One of the issues I had early on that freaked me out was that I could not get ML to install. I would get the Apple Logo and then a black screen. I cam across a post where this person mentioned using th following string to make it work: -x npci=0x3000 PCIRootUID=0 . I gave it a try and sure enough it did work. Without this I would not have been able to get into the installation. However, I was not able to move beyond that one tip because I had no idea what I was doing ntil you explain these things to me.

I still need to try and setup Internet. The Gigabyte motherboard came with a WIFI board but i have not installed it yet. Do you think that it will work if I do so and would you have any suggestions relating to this... or would I be better off using the Ethernet connection from the Mobo itself? I will also have to try my CD/DVD writer and hope for that as well.

You got me off to a good start so thanks again for all of your help! I will install my Premiere Pro and see if this runs alright. After all this is why I built this unit, for video editing.

Great ! So happy I could help. :)

Before, you do anything download the 10.8.2 COMBO update from apple and update.
When the update finishes, don't restart ! force quit the installer and run multibeast and reinstall NullCPU...kext and the Audio patch.
Then restart.

I think you'll find everything running much better after that + with the 10.8.2 update you'll get USB 3.0 native support.

As for Ethernet, I'm not sure about your Mobo's Wifi, but in order to get the Built in Ethernet working you should open multibeast and then go to Drivers>Network and install hnak's AppleIntelE1000.... Sorry, forgot to mention it in my previous post.

Now, It MAY work without installing this kext, I've never tried. So check if it's working before Installing, it may not be necessary. Either way, the Built-In Ethernet will work great.

Cheers.

DrDrumm:

Thanks for this latest set of tips! I will get into it. I have since rebooted several times and things seem to be good so far. My CD/DVD is working as well and I even moved some folders over to the new machines 240 Gb SSD to see how things run. I am presently installing CS6 so I hope that this won't be a problem for running the update that you just mentioned. After all, you did say "Before you do anything..." :)

DrDrumm: Okay great. I'll let you know how I make out. I can't thank you enough.

DrDrumm:

I Got into my CS6 programs (like Premiere Pro, AFter Effects, etc. and see that I will need to do some work in order to have my GTX680 video card with Cuda acceleration enabled (or recognized). I came across this video explaining how to do this but I am not sure if this sort of thing will still work in this Hackintosh environment or if I have to be caution of doing this. http://www.vidmuze.com/how-to-enable-gpu-cuda-in-adobe-cs6-for-mac/

At the risk of overextending my welcome; is this the sort of thing you had to do to get Cuda working (if in fact you use it with your card)? It involves installing the Cuda drives and then patching a couple of files to get CS6 to recognize the GTX680 card. I am getting closer and if I can get this working I will feel like I have made it over the hump, for now. Thanks again.

Will do. Thanks. I will post my results after I get it worked out and see if I can give some other guy a leg-up before this is all over.

I just completed my build with GeForce GTX 680 card and ran all of the latest Nvidia drivers for Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I also did that patch where you add your GPU to your txt file via terminal. Now CUDA does show up in Premiere Pro and After Effects but I cannot play any video whatsoever within Premiere Pro. Has anyone experienced this or do you know of a solution? I feel like I'm so close as I have everything working very well other than this one issue, but this is a biggie because its whole reason why I built this machine: Video Editing.

Hello,

I used this thread to hackintosh using the x79-ud5 and 3930k cpu. All is working ok, except I cannot seem to get it to boot properly with my gtx 570 graphics card. I used the dsdt provided here by DrDrumm (which was very helpful by the way) and used the plist you provided as well. The problem is the system hangs when booting up and the only way I can get it to boot is using the strings GraphicsEnabler=Yes PCIRootUID=0 npci=0x3000 -v. Even with this though when i get into the osx, everything works fine somewhat but launchpad is super slow/not working and when I open a web browser all I get is flashing on screen of the text.

The plist I installed in extra as DrDrumm recommending seems to have the strings I entered covered, so why is it not working?

Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

The screenshot below is what i get when using -v only without the other strings. When using no strings, it just stays on the grey screen
