Comments

This has to be one of the Most Difficult Hackintoshes to set up ever! But with the New Multibeast 5.0.2 It's very simple! created a USB drive using Unibeast. My HD6870 was recognized out of the box and since I am using Mountain Lion I do not need to do any patching to use my Ivy Bridge CPU.
  1. By default the built in audio does not work, Haven't fixed this Yet.
  2. Firewire Function Works.

Build Notes
  • OS X is installed on Dual Raid 180GB X2 SSD Drives
  • One of the 120gb Vertex 3 SSD is used for Windows
  • ADAT Flash Storage USB 3.0 Drive used as Boot Drive
  • I plan on installing Windows to dual Vertex SSD's in Raid

USB 3.0
  • The USB 3.0 header next to the ATX power connector labeled "F_USB30_1" works*
  • The USB 3.0 header labeled "F_USB30_2" works*
  • I have tested "F_USB30_3" Works*
  • The pair of USB 3.0 ports closest to the video connectors on the rear do work*

* USB 3.0 device Speeds are very Good and are a pretty decent improvement Over USB 2.0

Instructions to enable audio (I haven't tried this Myself suppose to work though)
When first installed the audio did not work. I solved this problem with a Kext and a DSDT file which are both in the ZIP file attached to this post. Simply install the Kext using your preferred method and then place the DSDT in your Extra folder. Once you reboot audio should work.

Note: Audio is produced through the Black/Yellow connectors on the motherboard rather than the green jack. Once I solve this I will update the post. Just be sure to change the audio output to the correct "Line Out" under the "Sound" preferences panel.

Performance
The performance with a Geek Bench of 17,500 IS UNBELIEVABLE!! This hackintosh is amazing, boot up time on the SSD is 4 seconds and applications launch instantly. Below you can see the 64bit Geekbench scores for this system running at 4.2GHz (Overclocked).

Note: I run protools with 32 Latency with extreme amount of heavy duty plugins on over 135 tracks at once!

If your looking for a Pro Audio Hackintosh This is the build and Specs to get to make it everything you want!

P.S - Please leave any comments or questions I would love to get others opinions and I had TONS of failures with this build at first so I LEARNED a lot! Thanks to all those in the community!

Incredible build! I have a similar setup with the motherboard and cpu, but only 16gb of RAM and currently running with Intel HD4000. You mentioned your firewire is working, did you need to do anything special to get this running? The first night after my build was complete I plugged an external into the fw 1394 port and all was well. Now after tinkering, trying to improve upon Geekbench scores, I have lost my firewire connection. The VIA 1394 option in UEFI is enabled so I'm not sure what else I can do to get it back. Any input is appreciated! Again, killer setup! :headbang:

Thanks! My firewire worked OOB so sorry I can't give you more input. I'm on imac profile 12.2 and I would double check your bios and multibeast settings.

Thanks for the reply! I will double check everything. I'm using Mac Pro 3.1 system definition so maybe I'll change that and see if I have any luck.

When first installing I left it not installed (hardware) unplugged and not in the case. I finished the install with the internal hd4000 and once finished I installed multibeast then used chameleon wizard to edit boot file (second option from the left) make sure these are checked:

First Row

GUI
Legacy Logo
Kernel

in the space below Kernel make sure Mach_Kernel is there

Second Row

Use kernel cache
darkwake=0
enthernet built in

Restart fix

Third Row

Generate p states
Generate c states

Fourth Row

and last but not Least have graphics enabler checked with ati config and in the box select Gibba

now i then put in graphics mode checked it and put 2560x1440@60 (as it didn't have mine listed and this is my resolution)

I then ran rebuild permissions and then installed it while power is off then reboot

Let me know if this works!?

(UPDATE) I checked the build you followed try not adding device Properties at bottom and use Gibba not duckweed and let me know if this works for you!

How did you get your saphire to work out of the box? Mine has hiccups with graphics enabled. I mean my build is working perfectly except it didnt work with GE = yes. Did you install a fresh install of 10.8.1? I had to follow

This is my build:

Wow, that's an incredible build! Congrats :)

Any word on how you're liking the monitor? My Hackintosh in the works is a similar build to yours, but focused more on video editing. I'd like an IPS panel that is cost efficient and has good color calibration out of the box...how's the QH270-Lite looking?

Thanks I appreciate it! When I get all my fans installed I'm going to really over clock it and try to push it to 18-19k GB so stay tuned for that!

I did extensive research on this and the catleap and a few others. In the end besides the great option of overclocking to 120hz on the earlier catleap monitors I found that the crossover has the best out of the best color temps and needed the least calibration (I used x1Pro) for calibrating. I found it even slightly better then out of the box cinema displays (27' models) It really is a DREAM come true I got the pivet model (which is Worth it) and Perfect Pixel as it's not worth it for me to risk it. I cannot believe how beautiful and just amazing this crossover monitor is I'll be getting another!! Only thing I can note is the stand even with pivet is plenty steady (as for not falling over) but little vibrations make it move (not a problem in my case) The build is very strong has a metal back and is actually pretty sexy in person and if you'd owned a 2560x1440 model before you know it's incredible for multitasking and space. I will say make sure your Graphics card is working with BOTH the monitor anddd the hackintosh builds as it needs dual link as well. I original had a hd6950 overclocked to 6970 but wouldn't work with the monitor so I downgraded. If you want to run dual of this do you research make sure you have double dual link and compatiable with hackintosh and monitors.

Looks a great build, Good Geekbench Score as well.

The only thing I would say is change the darkwake=0 to darkwake=no, it should now auto sleep.

Hey man whats your GB you have about the exact system as mine so I was curious? Also did you get hdmi audio working? If so could you share the dsdt and aml?
