GA-Z68AP-D3 3770K Unibeast - slow install, no keyboard

***UPDATED Title after adding the reply below to my initial post***
I installed Lion without any problems at all, although I failed post installation to get Audio working (and YouTube video only lasted a few seconds).
I thought Mountain Lion would answer all my prayers as it would natively support my hardware. How wrong I was, I can't even install.

I assume it is correct to create Unibeast WITHOUT bridgehelper.
I'm afriad I am not keen on the new website as I cannot find the guides telling me which boot options to use when choosing the installer, ie the 'USB' unibeast USB device.
I recall -v for verbose which may point to the problem.
The last messages shown are;

DSMOS has arrived
DRMStatus: iTunes/Apple Store Content Access Problem. Content playback may be disabled on this computer. You can continue to this machine, but you should contact Apple support representative. ErrorCode: 8877652

It then just sits there for 4-5mins before the 'select language' screen appears, but the mouse icons is a multicoloured circle, which does move/track with mouse movement, but does not allow me to select the continue arrow.
At this point, I have to power off.

NOTE- I am a real noob as I have only started this a few weeks ago and have never got to a fully working build.
I am not familiar with all the switches and options, and would very much appreciate some help.
Can someone tell me where the guides are?
I thought they were stickies under the Desktop build, but the Mountain Lion Desktop Builds just seems to be full of people posting questions and success stories, rather than actual guides.

Many thanks in advance.

{BTW I don't like the new webpage account login where you have to keep the mouse in position to fill in your user name and password.}

Some progress, but not much

I have tried to continue...

...after starting with -v, I have left the Language Selection screen showing the multicoloured circle for a number of minutes. After some time, the mouse cursor becomes normal and I can successfully go through the installation process.
NOTE - If I do not return in time, the screen goes black and pressing any key or power button does not resume. I have to power off and start over again.

After installation, I reboot with Unibeast USB and select my new installation partition. I am in a similar situation as before, that it takes around 5 minutes to load.
At this point, I had simply upgraded my Lion installation, and so I was prompted for my Login Password.
I then found that my keyboard had lost connectivity so i could not log in, all i could do was power off.
I thought it may have something to do with my Lion install, so I ERASED my Lion partition using Disk Utility (after reloading UniBeast and starting over).
It was the same behaviour, taking many minutes, but it installed eventually, only to find I was in the same position again.
When I was asked to select my country, the keyboard had disconnected.
So I am stuck once more.

Can anybody help?

I've got the same board.

I had to add the "GraphicsEnabler=No" and "PCIRootUID=0" tags to boot into the installer.

No problems installing after that (had a few graphics problems but they are fixed).

Ignore the error you mention about the store- you can fix that later after it is installed.

Still struggling

Thanks MikeTN
Can you tell me which revision of board and BIOS you are using?
Mine is Rev 2.0, BIOS FD
Are you using an IvyBridge as well?

To continue my story, I found that if I left my machine without keyboard/mouse on the Select Country screen for around 7 minutes, I would suddenly get mouse/keyboard control. I could then complete the install and I had a really great display resolution. I then tried to install MultiBeast and it went wrong again from there as it would not load OSX after rebooting/bootloader, just had white screen with Apple logo, spinning circle followed by a crossed out circle.

MikeTN, what options did you use for post install?
Did you use UserDSDT with a downloaded DSDT from TonyMac?
Have you got onboard audio working? If so, which Multibeast options?
(I think it is an 889 but I have had no success getting it to work with Lion and have tried several combinations)

I really hope you can help me as you are the first contact I have had who has the same board.

Many thanks

Nobody able to help?

I don't think MikeTN's comments help me as I have noted he is using a 2500K which I believe to be SandyBridge not IvyBridge.
Unfortunately MikeTN has not been able to respond to my questions abot post installation and so I am no further forward, which is unfortunate I was really hoping to get so good tips.
I haven't been able to rename the main title of this thread, so I am going to open another one, the reason being that it I can install Mountain Lion over and over again, without any switches (including -v, ie I don't need it as I thought). 'All' I have to do is wait ...
It seems to take 4-8 minutes for my keyboard and mouse to become responsive.
One major problem is, if I don't spot it i time, it goes into power save, and I have no way to resume and have to use the power button to power off.
After install, it takes a little over 1 minute to get to the login screen using UniBeast USB to boot, and then 4 minutes to get keyboard/mouse (although I can type in my password+<return> in this time and wait for it to get control, and it will log me in, very odd as this must mean the keyboard is working). Once I have keyboard/mouse, the system works very well apart form sound (and a Youtube video problem).
I have tried to install UserDSDT without a DSDT, as I believe this should install the Chimera (aka Chameleon) bootloader, but if I do this, my system completely fails to load OSX - I get the crossed out circle. If I use verbose boot, I get;
Still waiting for root device {followed by}
panic(cpu 4 caller 0xfffffff7f817341df): No HPTETs available...CPU(s) configured incorrectly

I am having the same issue with this board - the circle with a line after I install the DSDT for Version 2.0 FD. I am using an IvyBridge i7, I believe the issue is the IvyBridge. Once I install the DSDT I cannot even boot from the HD again, even if I use the USB Mountain Lion bootloader. I installed using Multibeast and the user DSDT, installed the separately downloaded Chimera (1.11.0) as Multibeast only has 1.10.0. Rebuilt permissions then restart. The system hangs even when I try GraphicsEnabler=no , PCIRootUID=0, -f

When I use the -f I do not get the really long keyboard/mouse delays (takes 4 to 5 minutes for my usb keyboard and mouse to work if I do not use -f).

I am reinstalling again, and ran Bridgehelper even though the forums say its not needed. Will let you know how it turns out.

Glad it is not just me, but sorry you are having the same problems

This is driving me nuts :banghead:. I have installed countless times.
I thought it might be the downloaded DSDT file, although I have tried UserDSDT without it.
After a few days, I have learnt how to create a DSDT from scratch. It still doesn't help.

I now have Mountain Lion and Lion partitions.
My Builds are fine until I use UserDSDT and then I cannot start OSX using the installed bootloader, Mountain Lion says "Still can't find root device" and Lion reboots the machine almost immediately.
If I use the Unibeast USB, Mountain Lion says the same thing, but I can start Lion (which I am using now).

I found that I could use -f to temporarily resolve the keyboard/mouse issue - I should have updated :oops:.
I'm not sure what the drawbacks are of this, so I hope we can find a way to install properly.

I have tried a few plist strings from the post that I linked in my reply. They just resulted in kernel panics but I may go back and try them again as 'apparently' my dsdt should at least stop the PowerManagement Panic now.

Let me know how you get on, and I will update this post if I find anything.

Making some progress but lost High Def

I renamed
/Extra/
org.chameleon.Boot.plist
and copied the file with the same name from
/Volumes/USB/Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist {USB is the name of my UniBeast USB partition, as per default instructions on creation}
I then found that I could load OSX without the 'Still waiting for root device' error {although still have mouse/keyboard problem}
I then added all the lines 'statement by statement' from the plist file that caused the problems.
Typically I found it was the very last statement that caused the problem.
I suggest you remove it although I do not know what it does, why it was installed, or if it is needed by anything else - see below.

*** My graphics resolution has decreased as it has not loaded a Kext (About this Mac, More Info..., System Report, Graphics Displays)
The type is shown as GPU, Built-in, Intel, 1024X768, 32-Bit color
I believe this is because there is no kext loaded.
Can someone tell me how to re-enable AppleIntelHD4000Graphics?
NB the kext still resides in /System/Library/Extensions, it just isn't being used.
I'm hoping that having the right graphics will resolve the keyboard/mouse problem, but maybe it isn't related.

remove the following from /Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist
<key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string>

**EDIT**
I have found that UseKernelCache is a method to improve OSX startup time by cacheing kexts etc.
I find this concept a little difficult to understand as a cache is normally a local store of something retrieved, but this idea appears to be copying something that is local to another location, being /var/db/BootCaches/PreheatedUser
I had assumed the cause for boot failure is that the cache is not updated, but I have since read the following post;
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=280062
the guy says he has fixed the problem but not given enough information to follow, perhaps because the kext is in binary.
To be honest, I am loosing the will!

Scared of UEFI!

I am almost on the point of installing UEFI but going back to Touch BIOS is not supported.
{NB I believe there is some dodgy hack, but there are no guarantees and I may blow the board}

I guess it would be OK if I only wanted OSX, and perhaps Windows 7, but my main requirement is Ubuntu which has excellent native video editing for AVCHD (unfortunately OSX and Win7 do not).
I have had a quick look at UEFI installation of Ubuntu but it doesn't look straight forward, and I am not sure if it is mature enough to have any confidence.
If anybody has triple booted 'with ease' using UEFI, would be great to know.
