Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

Probably right after installing Sonoma (on an M2 NVMe), my backup hard drive (SATA; BIOS is configured to AHCI) disappeared from the OpenCore boot picker. This has never happened to me before. I created a completely new backup (with legacy boot support) via CCC, but still the disk does not appear. I've also tried old EFI folders where it definitely worked, but unfortunately no success (scan policy is set to 0).

I'm only writing here because I hope I'm missing some little thing. Does anyone have any tips? If not, I'll keep looking myself.

Not the most elegant of solutions, but all is running well (including my Broadcom Wifi) in Sonoma thanks to OCLP.
I hate running with SIP disabled, but what's a guy to do.
Perhaps a better solution will present itself..
@Lensjocky Would you share your config.plist? (of course with seriais, UUID deleted , etc.) I tried but still have some problems.
Thanks

Hello,

A quick question when changing/testing different SMBIOS: do I have to be logged out from iCloud?

Thanks!
It’s a good idea to log out of iCloud to avoid a new system from being added to your list of devices, but not strictly necessary.

Here's the thing. It took me 3 different "config.plist" files to get my Hack into Sonoma w/ Broadcom wifi working.
That is precisely why the upgrade is far from elegant.

#1- My Config.plist from Ventura for updating via the App-store
#2- My Config.plist configured for patching the Sonoma Kernel w/ OCLP
#3- My current Config.plist configured as my "daily driver" for Sonoma

I could send you #3 as that's all I bothered to save, but that wouldn't allow you to patch the kernel.

Followed these instructions from "https://www.tonymacx86.com/members/suzukikm.2025578/" to the letter.

"Update to Sonoma normally first.

1. Once the update is done, configure your EFI as per the guide.

For Broadcom wifi patching

Block: IOSkywalkFamily.kext
Add: IOSkywalkFamily.kext, IO80211FamilyLegacy.kext, and AirPortBrcmNIC.kext in order.
Disable: SecureBootModel, SIP and AMFI as below

SecureBootModel -> Disabled
csr-active-config -> <03080000>
boot-arg -> amfi=0x80

2. Reboot with above config

3. Apply the OCLP Modern Wireless Patch

4. Reboot

5. Configure your EFI again

Remove: amfi=0x80
Add: AMFIPass.kext
Boog-arg: -amfipassbeta

6. Reboot. You should be good to go."

Let's try this:
  • Boot into Sonoma and mount the EFI partition of your backup (SATA) drive
  • Open a Finder window and show the EFI folder with a couple of sub-folders expanded as shown:

Hello,

I would like to ask for some tips/advice on changing my smbios from iMacPro1,1 to iMac19,1 headless setup. This is due to the fact that I am now using h.265 more often with Davinci Resolve and in my current smbios iMacPro1,1 h.265 is practically unusable.

I am already aware of some things that I need to do, like change the bios setting to enable IGPU and update the device properties. I am just not sure if there are other things I need to update, like boot arguments.

I have an i9-10850K and a Vega 56 running Ventura.

Thank you.

Wifi is not OOB supported, BT 4.0 is.

Note that CaseySJ is not offering support here for the OCLP method. I would simply wait for a less complex solution than this one, that doesn't make your hackintosh less secure. That doesn't require you download the full macOS installer with each point update of Sonoma. Something better, more elegant, may come along.

For the "impatient ones" that can't wait, here's what the OCLP devs have offered as a short term solution:

To use our current patches, you'll need to ensure the following:
  • System Integrity Protection is set to 0x803
    • csr-active-config | data | 03080000
      • Reset NVRAM or add csr-active-config to Delete to ensure the new variable is set
  • AMFI is disabled
    • boot-args | string | amfi=0x80
  • Secure Boot Model is set to Disabled
  • Following kexts are blocked:
    • com.apple.iokit.IOSkywalkFamily (Reference)
    • Set MinKernel to 23.0.0 to ensure patches only apply on Sonoma
  • Following kexts are injected:
Does this method work well? Such as AirDrop.

I'm not currently using OCLP and this approach. You could ask someone that has whether Airdrop works.
