I am looking for the cheapest GPU available that has at least 1 display port out (at least 1.2 version display port). Can also be mini-display port. Needs to support Big Sur.
Would love if it was passive as well.
I want to use it as my main graphics card and it will be running 2 monitors via a single daisy chained display port. It's a music studio computer, so I won't be using it for anything graphics heavy.
Thanks!
:)

These aren't the quietest cards when under load but at idle it's not bad if your case has some sound dampening in it. The K420 is the lowest price but only has one full size DP output. The NVS 510 has 4 mini DP outputs.

Here's a list of the other Kepler based Quadros that will work with Big Sur. Versions without the "K" in front won't work.
  • Quadro K600
  • Quadro K2000/D
  • Quadro K4200
  • Quadro K5000
  • Quadro K5200
  • Quadro K6000

Hi. I am now leaning more towards a fanless/passive solution.
Any suggestions?

Asus Nvidia GT710 and GT730 can both be bought as passively cooled cards and they both work with Big Sur. Last natively supported version of macOS for any Nvidia card.

I have one of the GT710 cards and it works just fine, but don't expect to be able to play high end games or undertake intensive graphics processing.

Your Kaby Lake IGPU (HD630) would give the GT710 a run for its money. Have a look at this YT video showing the two GPUS running some games side by side. Note the GT710 used is only a 1GB card, a 2GB card would probably be a little better.

Expect the GT730 2GB card to be better than the Kaby Lake IGPU and the GT710, but how much is debatable.

Thanks a lot for the suggested GPUS! :)
None of them supports DVI 1.2 though, which is something it must have.
But thanks :)

I have purchased 3 of these (AMD Radeon RX460 2GB GDDR5 Graphic Card PC Gaming | HP 910486-002 |High Profile) refurb graphics cards on ebay for about $46 each. They have worked right out of the box on Big Sur, and Monterey in the systems I put them in. I haven’t tested Ventana. The vendor I bought them from has closed the sale, but this is the same card and from a vendor in the same town.

I can’t vouch for this vendor, but the card is good for Hackintosh. I normally use the Hdmi connection and tried the display port this morning and it works with no problems. I think the Display Port is version 1.3 or 1.4.

Amazingness! Thanks. Will have a look. And yes, I meant dp 1.2 and not dvi 1.2 in my last post.
Thanks

You aren’t likely to find a fanless card with DP 1.2. The fanless cards are all based on old chipsets that used VGA, DVI & HDMI connectors, both the Nvidia and the ATI passively cooled cards.

Also those older cards would limit which version of macOS you would be able to run. Any AMD RX460/470/480 would allow you to run Ventura when it is released for public consumption.
