I need to be able to have DVI (at least for now). Both cards have the same output 1 DVI, 2 DP. and 2 HDMI. I have read many comments in reviews and forums regarding black screen when booting up... the Apple load screen not showing up. Is this true on hackingosh? and dose this also mean I will not see verbose?

I want to use it with Gigabyte z490 gaming x board/Catalina 10.5.5... dose anyone know if and which ports work or not?

Either brand is OK, but the MSI can sometimes be had at a cheaper price. So if they are both afflicted I can just go with the best price.

Thank you.

Go with Sapphire. I had a Sapphire RX 580 in my Hackintosh (then upgraded to a 5700 XT).

I had no coil whine or anything with that GPU.

Also the Sapphire GPUs tend to have better cooling (more or thicker heat pipes) than MSI cards.

Also my first choice for AMD cards is Sapphire, and for Nvidia cards, is EVGA.

Thanks louiefriesen, Sapphire was my 1st option as it listed by Apple. Now how about that black OS load screen and verbose?

I had read somewhere that it was firmware on the gpu that needed to be flashed. But that could be for the 570. The load screen is not a big concern, the verbose would be.

I purchased the Sapphire RX580 this morning. Kinda pricey at $185USD, but what the heck as the prices on the Intel i7 10700 and Samsung EVO+ 500GB dropped overnight (I saved about $50 there).

Just waiting on Gigabyte mobo to arrive tomorrow.

ust waiting on Gigabyte mobo to arrive tomorrow.
Was this old Asus X38 motherboard still working or has it failed ? They really built those to last if it still functions. First went on sale in the Fall of 2007 !

When I bought my RX 580, it was $290 CAD (~$215 USD) off Amazon, and then after I had built my Hackintosh, I saw it for $230 CAD (~$170 USD) on Newegg... :banghead:

My Asus P5E is still working fine, only stuck at El Capitan for Mac OS. Runs latest Windows 10 very good, but Adobe CC apps bit slow to launch. Yes I think it has been 13 years... pure vanilla and no real hiccups. The Z490 will be my 2nd build.
