[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

Thank you Leesureone for the EFIs you post, they save sooo much time . To help you on verification, your NUC7EFIOC5.8.zip. on page #90 works well on my NUC7i5BNH with 16Gb Ram (Samsung) and a Samsung EVO 1TB M2 drive on Catalina 10.15.4
It's great that it's working for you. I almost have the same model as you : NUC7i7BNH. With Leesureone's file, everything is working except the crackling sound.

Is it possible for you to share your EFI Folder ? I just want to compare with mine. Thanks

Hi All,

With Leesureone's instructions I've successfully installed Hackintosh on NUC8i3BEH2 (actually it took more to read the cross-documentation than the actual install).

What I haven't been able to form a definitive opinion is whether a separate wifi card (either M.2 native/with adapter/USB type) is required for Continuity case ethernet connection is used. If yes, what combination would be better suited (not asking about compatible devices but about general performance):
- internal BT of the Intel card + USB wifi;
- internal BT + wifi combo;
- USB BT + USB wifi.

BT part of the Intel card works fine to connect to phone/headphones, however the Turn off bluetooth switch is grayed out and I don't know if this is supposed to happen.

Thanks

Hi,

I"ve tried all the possible Layout-ID's (1, 3, 11, 15, 44, 66) found in Hackintool. But the issue is same. Every time I launch Hackintool, by default, the layout ID is set to 3 (even if it's different in config.plist). With IORegistryExplorer (HDEF) also, the layout ID is still same : 03 00 00 00. For example, when I changed it to 01 00 00 00, it's correctly reflected in config.plist file but not in IORegistryExplorer (screenshot attached)

Thanks for your helpView attachment 470862

I forgot that to get audio working on the NUC7 I had to resort to changing the ID using alcid=3 in the boot arguments (so its stuck at 3). Here is where to change it to other IDs.

For continuity you need to have OS X think you have native WIFI/Bluetooth so that means an adapter, a new W/B card and disable the onboard wireless and Bluetooth functions. You will also need a custom USB SSDT or USB port kext to enable the internal usb headers. Nothing else works.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to ask if NUC8i5BEK is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 devices.

Thank you!!!
Like anything Hackintosh the answer is a resounding....maybe. What device?

Here is my EFI file . I had the NUC7 running with Clover before OC, had no Audio and fixed with Layout 1 and SoundFlower , for OC used Leesureone's file as is which uses Layout 3 and it works too. I use my NUC7 mostly as a headless using Remotix to remote login and the audio works fine, no crackling, also via HDMI connected directly and no issues. Hope this helps.

Hello everyone,
does anyone have any ideas about my sleep mode problem with my NUC8? (my previous post: #3050) ?
Thank you very much.

You really should update your signature with the Nuc model
my configuration:
NUC8I5BEH2
RAM : 16Go
Bios: BECFL357.86A.0078
EFI file: NUC8EFIOC5.8-2

Good evening, everyone.

I often have a problem when exiting the sleep mode, the display on the screen flashes continuously (about 5 seconds stopped then display about 1/2 second then stop again...) and I am forced to make a sudden stop and restart.

Do you know this problem ?
Thanks
Its how USB is configured. I set the EFI folder up for the i7s but the i5 is different. You can try the Clover EFI folder or the OC5.7 on a usb drive and see if sleep works. If it does I can fix it.

I've tested with OC5.7 but it doesn't get any better than this, here's what happens:
I performed the test with the menu apple + suspend activity and also by pressing the on/off button with the same result.

1/ The screen goes off immediately.
2/ After a few seconds, the fan stops then the light on the on/off button becomes flashing.
3/ After about 2 seconds the fan starts again, the light on the on/off button becomes steady again, but the display does not light up immediately.
then the screen lights up for 0.5 seconds and goes off again.
After about 2 minutes the fan stops and the on/off button becomes flashing again, then restarts as before without the display.

Sometimes it happens that it stays in standby with the flashing on/off button without restarting itself, in this case if I press the on/off button it comes out of standby mode, the screen lights up and everything works normally.
