The everything works Asus Z390-I Gaming * i7-8700K * SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX Vega 64 Build

@Feartech @Stork I just realized I forgot to ask: Is it ok to support opencore in this forum? Is there any policy towards it?

Also, how do I enable signatures? I want to link back to specific parts of my guide.

Thanks!
Yes, you can certainly support OpenCore here, the more the merrier! :)

just don't link to other sources on the internet though :)

I think I found the reason why my Mac wakes up at night. I'm not sure, but I want to try.

If your Mac does not wake up automatically at night, please send a screenshot of your pmset -g to Terminal.

They told me that my Mac might wake up every two hours as it checks for updates. The tcpkeepalive line is responsible for this.

@ModMike Will you continue to develop ASUS Z390-i only on OpenCore? Do we give up Clover in the future?

I haven't decided yet, it depends on forum policy. I do lean towards Clover because of the excellent tools around it that make it easier to control. It is (or was until they broke it) much prettier with all those available themes but more importantly, very easy to support with Clover configurator. I can edit a plist like nobody's business but I think it's an unnecessary obstacle for new users.

My biggest problem is support. This last week with you and another has been extremely frustrating because I was unable to fix your issues. I know how frustrating that was for both of you as well, so much so that another user gave up on this guide.

When I figured out that 3 Clover versions in row broke things I was extremely disappointed at the waste of our collective time. I should have heeded @Stork warning a little sooner than I did, but then again, thats just me. Always need to learn the hard way :)

One of the things I like about opencore is that, in conjunction with Open Core Configurator, which I have been using extensively this week, makes it a little easier to build a more universal version that people can modify with a few simple clicks.

I really am on the fence but am worried about the future of Clover because it sits on critical kexts from the OC team. At some point they will diverge and Clover may become obsolete. It is by no means a fact, just a fear.

Thank you. As to the other point, never have, never will because this is my favorite community.

Thats some great detective work! As suspected, I don't have tcpkeepalive enabled but I do have standby enabled. It seems disabling both will give your machine the deep sleep you want it to have. I would leave standby at 1 though, I haven't had issues with it waking up.

So far Opencore seems to be doing a better job of sleeping, but maybe it's a settings issue or I'm just imagining things.

am I the only one with a mouse stutter? my magic mouse stutters (not frequently) and I can't figure out what it is. Besides the board and the CPU I have replaced every part on this HACK and still same issue. I replaced my BCM94352 with a BCM94360 and still same problem. PLEASE HELP!

btw I'm not using WiFi

Is it really messed up during boot? I've seen this issue a few times, try to clear the NVRAM. I assume the mouse is bluetooth right? I believe your card is an apple native card, correct? Did you remove all the BRCM and AirportFixup kexts as well?

If that fails try the OpenCore EFI on page 1 to isolate the issue. If it does it under OC, then you know it's a hardware issue. If not, then you know it's a Clover issue. The easiest way to try it is to dump the OC EFI on FAT32 formate USB stick and boot from it. Let us know how it worked out.

Yes, the forum is supporting OpenCore. See the Bootloaders forum section for guides and standalone question/troubleshooting threads that focus on OpenCore. OpenCore users with macOS questions are permitted to post their macOS questions in the appropriate macOS forum sections.

However, User/Golden Builds descriptions must have UniBeast/MultiBeast installation procedures in Post #1. That being said, you can also update Post #1 to also include OpenCore installation procedures. But, for now, the UniBeast/MultiBeast installation is the focus of User/Golden Builds descriptions.

Only Administrations and Moderators are allowed to have more one link per build in Signature Block. Users can have one link per build just like Build Signatures. If you have a Build Signature, it is the default Signature Block. Build Signatures are part of your profile information.
