Workaround for - no GPU output - Black Screen RX 580

Went back to Mojave.. can't have this issue. Need the puter working.

For me it was lulu.kext which was not up to date. All works now.

I followed the guide in this post, updated lulu.kext, whatevergreen.kext and made sure there were no duplicate kexts.
Old lulu.kext found in S/L/E was deleted.

Rebooted - no luck.

Enabled Intel HD in BIOS, set my Initial display to be On-board GFX, connected HDMI to motherboard output and to monitor - It worked. But being HDMI, only 1080p output.

Looks like all the ports on the RX580 are getting disabled as reported by others, but the "workarounds" dont seem to work for me.

Struggling with the same stuff 6 months later. I have tried all that. Updated Lilu and Whatever green no luck with Catalina So far.

My Config:
i7 9700K
Gigabyte Z390 UD
Corsair Vengance 3000mhz
Corsair MP510 NVMe SSD.
Sapphire Rx580 - 8GB

Did you ever figured it out? I'm struggling with the same weird disabling of my RX580 by Catalina.

It actually worked better when my kexts were really old and some were duplicated in /L/E It was really laggy, mouse stuttering, not really usable, but I could log in to Catalina. After updating all my kexts and cleaning up /L/E per this thread, I have no video after verbose boot quits. I get black screen on HDMI1 and a mouse pointer that I can move, that's it. If I click, the pointer vanishes and that's that. Black screen forever.

I actually did. Turns out the latest clover was required to run MacOS Catalina. I updated the clover version using Clover Configurator and updated Lilu and Whatevergreen. now the system works like a charm. Running the latest version of Catalina now. See attachment.

What version of Clover did you update to, to fix this?

Wow! I don't know how all the pieces fit together well enough to understand how the version of Clover can be interacting with the booted OS; but hey, whatever. I will make a new boot stick with the same rev of Clover you used (please disclose!) & try installing Catalina on a disposable disk.
