Mojave 10.14.5 installation on LG gram 17 stuck

Hello. I use lg gram 15zd990, and I got same error. Do you know how to fix it?

I haven't. I tried multiple versions of installers, and so far, no go. For the moment, I've just given up. I also have had no luck getting any version of Linux to install and work. Makes me wonder if I have a weird EUFI or motherboard or what...

Here it is. First you have to update your LG update center from windows, then use this clover. Touchpad is working now. To use BT you have to boot ubuntu 18.04.02 or alike first after the hard reset (full shutdown)

Hi, I've this clover work on my LG 17z990, but battery status not showing, no battery icon appeared.
Is there anyone let battery status working?

Hi everyone. It's been several years since I did a hackintosh, but Costco has a sale going on and the LG 17" is $350 off so I had to buy one and try. I really want to get this to work because I hate Windows with a passion. I've made some progress, and have one solution and one big question. First the solution, then maybe someone can help me with the question. I noticed a few other people having a problem trying to boot from USB. Initially I couldn't either, it'd just skip the USB drive and boot windows. The fix is pretty obscure, but easy to implement. In BIOS, after you enable UEFI boot go to Security. The first item is Secure Boot Configuration. It looks like it's a header line for the stuff underneath, but it's not. Highlight and choose it. The first option is Secure Boot. Disable that and you should be able to boot from USB.

Now my question. And honest, I've searched around this site and elsewhere but just can't find an answer. Rdmitry early in this thread had posted a Clover to install for this machine. How do you use that? I originally thought I could replace the Clover install created by Unibeast, but that just reboots after displaying the Apple logo for a few seconds. The vanilla Unibeast goes all the way through the progress bar under the Apple logo, then just hangs there. So how do I use that custom Clover file he posted?

Thanks.

Hi Every1..!

I have successfully installed Mojave 10.14.6 on LG Gram 17 using Rdmitry's Clover. I ll explain the process in short for those who are getting reboots, BSODs and KPs.

1) I already had another working OSX installation. So it helped a lot. Prepare a USB installer for 10.14.6 DMG downloaded from Apple store. Make sure your USB is formatted in Mac OS X Extended (Journaled). Create USB by following the guide here:

2) Then download latest clover(5058) and clover configurator (5.5) and the latest versions of basic kexts like AppleALC, Lily, Whatevergreen from the respective websites.

3) Install clover on the USB in separate EFI partition by altering install options in clover. If using NVME drives select NVMexpress driver during clover installation.

4) Once clover is installed, copy the files from clover folder provided by Rdmitry in the following manner.
a. Copy the ACPI folder and overwrite the folder in your respective clover.
b. Copy all the kexts from 'other' and copy in the respective 'other' location in your clover.
c. Copy drivers for UEFI and drivers64 to your clovers respective drivers folder.
d. Copy config file and overwrite on to your config file.
e. Important! Copy the latest versions of VirtualSMC, AppleALC, Lily, Whatevergreen and overwrite the ones in your clover kexts folder.

Now boot the gram into BIOS and change the following settings:-
1) Legacy OS - disabled
2) Change secure boot configuration to disabled. its available in Security Tab.
3) Also disable the TPM configuration. If you are having 2 SSDs in gram, I recommend keeping only one required for the install.
4) Select USB as option no. 1 in the Boot Tab.

and save and exit..! Good Luck guys... Hav fun..!

Mirageuniverse85,

Thanks for taking the time to write this. I'm really looking forward to getting this working. Right now, I need just a little more help. I've tried following your directions exactly, but I must be screwing up somewhere in step 4. Right now I'm still getting that boot loop after seeing a few seconds of the Apple logo. I'm wondering if my problem is in copying the kexts using finder. Just doing that I can pretty much get through 4d. 4e won't let me copy those kexts over and keeps giving me a message about the file not existing. I've tried copying them with Clover Configurator, but it puts them in the 10.14 folder rather than Other, which is where the current copies reside.

I've seen a few articles that say I can't just do a Finder copy, so I need a little guidance.

Thanks again.

How and where to install kexts:

Feartech,

Thanks, but it's still confusing. The way I read that guide, I should be copying those texts to /Library/Extensions. There isn't one yet, as I'm trying to get these on the USB installer. Mirageuniverse was saying to copy all of them to the Clover kexts folder. The finder method wil only work on VirtualSMC, not the other three. So as an example, how do I overwrite the Whatevergreen.kext that's in the Clover/kexts/other folder with the most current one?

His instructions also say for example to copy certain Clover folders provided by rdmitry over the ones created by the Clover install. I can do that, but the resulting product gets stuck in a boot loop.

Thanks

mirageuniverse, (or anyone else who's gotten this working)

Could you please make an image of your EFI folder and post it here? I've followed all the instructions here multiple times, but I still haven't been able to create an install USB that actually works. Using the latest Clover, it doesn't even see the Mojave installer as an option. Some research said maybe I was missing hfsplus.efi. I added that in. It shows the install as an option but hangs after selecting it. I'm not a Hackintosh expert like many of you. The easy way would be to just copy the EFI partition if one of you can provide it. Please. This is making me nuts. OK, nuttier.

Thanks

Hi, I firstly do LG update in Windows, then make USB boot drive using Unibeast on another Mac machine, replace clover by rdmitry0911's clover in USB boot drive, set proper BIOS setting, boot USB drive and install Mojave. After installation, boot into Mojave Mac OS system, run Multibeast to create SSD drive's EFI, and then replace the clover using rdmitry0911's clover, reboot.

It run very well into Mojave 10.14.6, except no battery status showing, no external HDMI audio, no headphone audio.

Rich,

Thanks for the help. I've made some progress, but still not all the way there. I can get all the way through the install now, but after installation I get an Apple logo for several seconds then a reboot. I've done the LG updates, made every possible variation of install USB drive, and still no go. But like I said... some progress.
