Will Radeon VII work out of the box?

I recently upgraded to Mojave.
I recently changed to AMD.
Radeon RX Vega 64.
To my surprise new model is confirmed.

AMD worked with Mojave out of the box.
Is AMD dependant on version number?(ex 10.14 does not work, 10.15 works)

Or is it part of the kernel a universal compatibility for this architecture (in NVDA it was called Keplar or Maxwell)

For now the only thing I can do is return AMD RX Radeon Vega 64, use GTX 780 Ti Classified and see what happens.

It should work Vega VII id is in both controller and accellerator kexts. https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/amd-radeon-navi-gpu.264399/#post-1899758

It is not Vega, it is Radeon VII. I recently changed to a Vega 64 (10 days...) from a 1080Ti... bad timing... hopefully the new one doesn't worth it...

@ed_co, post,

Radeon VII is a consumer version of the Vega 20 GPU built on 7nm architecture. AMD just changed the name to Radeon as that is their consumer (IE: Gaming) line of cards.

The disabled double precision by using Radeon driver. Maybe it can be hacked to bring that back.

The Mi25 is a $5000 card, can’t find a price on the mi60. Would be nice to flash it with the original bios, save a lot of money.

Any brave soul want to try a AMD Radeon VII and tell us if it works on Mojave?

I have, it’s not quite there yet. We have the ID in only one if the Kexts so hopefully it will get support in 14.5 or 14.6. Windows support is still spotty but look at this Luxmark Ball with single Radeon VII.

So does it boot into Mojave?
Does 3D acceleration work?

It boots but a very small screen the top left corner only. I managed to drag the displays window into view and reset to 1080i but it has many distortions. There is no acceleration and I also added the device ID to the 5099 and 5000HW Kexts but still not working. I also tried faking the ID to Vega 10 at first but no go. I’ll meddle with it more over the weekend.
This is a Powercolor brand but they all should have the same bios on this launch.
No 3D not even decent 2D at this point.
