Hi,

Every time I try to install macOS on my XPS 9570, the provided "Installer log.txt" crash log appears, just when the installer is about to finish (remaining time is "Less than one minute").
Trying to boot macOS after this just results in a kernel panic with all kinds of garbage on the screen.

I've tried the following things:
  • using the 14.0 "Install macOS Mojave" file
  • using the 14.1 "Install macOS Mojave" file
  • using a redownloaded version of the 14.1 "Install macOS Mojave" file (now doublechecked that InstallESD.dmg and BaseSystem.dmg had the correct checksums)
  • installing to an external USB (32GB), instead of to the internal Mac OS Extended (Journaled) partition

Do you have an idea what can be causing this last-second error?

Full laptop specs:
Dell XPS 9570 (2018)
Resolution: 1080p
CPU: Intel i7-8750h
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce 1050ti
Drive: 512GB NVMe SSD
Memory: 16GB DDR4

Try with EmuVariableUefi-64.efi.
Don't install to USB device. Install to internal SSD.

Try with EmuVariableUefi-64.efi.
I fully reinstalled with EmuVariableUefi-64.efi added.

This still resulted in a last-second crash log and a kernel panic with all kinds of garbage on the screen when trying to boot macOS after this.

One thing did change though, the installation loading screen now has a GUI (see attached "old_screen.jpg" vs the now "new_screen.jpg").

From where did you download macOS?
On what hardware did you create your USB installer?

From where did you download macOS?
The original 14.0 file was from the App Store of High Sierra.
The 14.1 files were acquired using this tool on High Sierra: http://dosdude1.com/mojave/.
I used this because the 14.1 file was always downloaded as a 20mb file when using the App Store directly.

On what hardware did you create your USB installer?
On my old High Sierra desktop hackintosh.

On my old High Sierra desktop hackintosh.

Re-download complete installer from the Mac App Store.
Make sure the system you're using to download it is up-to-date with all security patches/updates for the version of macOS/OS X that it is running.

I tried that for 4 hours today, every fix still resulted in downloading the 20mb file...

What computer are you downloading with?
What version of macOS is it running?
All security/updates applied?
All traces of any macOS installer deleted prior to download attempt?
If it is a hack, do you have the latest Clover?
If it is a hack, are you leaving SMBIOS/BiosVersion to Clover default (eg. by NOT specifying it)?

Thanks for your quick answer.

Before I tried checking all that, I've created one last bootable USB, now with the 'Install macOS Mojave Beta' file which I still had on my High Sierra hackintosh.
I previously installed the Mojave beta perfectly fine with this file on another laptop (a HP ZBook G5 Studio), but on my XPS I again got the crash log!
This crash log always appears after the 'Computer will reboot in 10 seconds' countdown (after the 15 minute installation). Holding the power button at the countdown instead also causes a kernel panic when trying to boot macOS after the shutdown.

So I really don't think the installation file is at fault here, but rather the XPS hardware combined with my Clover configuration...

Provided are the Clover folder (also attached previously), the most recent crash log, a screenshot of the crash log dialog and a screenshot of the kernel panic when trying to boot macOS after the crash log.

Do you have any other idea which can be causing the issue?

OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.efi not recommended.
