[Guide] Dell Inspiron 15 7567 (and similar) (Near-Full Functionality)

And also Nimhhaar I notices that you have VoodooPS2Controller.kext in both Other and /L/E . Does this need to go into both folders or just one ? Thanks....
 
Thanks Nihhaar, I'm almost there. Another question. Is applePS2SmartTouchPad.kext just an earlier version of VoodooPS2Cpntroller.kext . I'm confused whether to install both these or is is it a case of one or the other ??
This guide uses ApplePS2SmartTouchPad kext, but I later updated to VoodooPS2Controller for brightness keys fix (SSDT fix + a config.plist patch). No, They cannot be used together. You have to choose either exactly one. If you are not so sure for now, just stick to ApplePS2SmartTouchpad and skip VoodooPS2Controller.

Fun Fact: Brightness can still be controlled by Fn+B, Fn+S

I thought I was finished until I find I have no sound and still have control over brightness. Have tried switching between VoodooPS2Controoler and ApplePS2SmartTouchPad and still no luck. Any suggestions ?

Use the gen_debug.sh tool mentioned in the FAQ, that way it is less likely you'll omit something.
 
@RehabMan I've enabled HWP using MacbookPro 13,1 and plugintype (yes) in clover and SSDT-XCPM.aml. I've checked AppleIntelInfo.kext and hwp works fine, but the p-states show only:
CPU P-States [ 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 (35) 36 ]
iGPU P-States [ 21 ]

Missing [8 - 13] states, mine lowest frequency is 800Mhz, but it is not reaching I think.
And also there is only one iGPU state: is it normal? I am using GuC microcode using intelgraphicsfixup with corresponding bootarg.

No need for both Generate/PluginType=true *and* SSDT-XCPM.aml.
Use only one mechanism for plugin-type injection.

You will not see other IGPU pstates unless you stress the IGPU (while monitoring with AppleIntelInfo) with an IGPU specific benchmark, game, or other graphics intensive app.

Low pstate is affected by data in the plist for your board-id in X86PlatformPlugin.kext as well as general CPU demand by the system.

The HWPEnable option in Clover (config.plist/CPU/HWPEnable) is useless and should be removed.
 
Managed to fix my sound by deleting the fakePCIID kext (got this tip from a previous Rehamab post). Wasn't able to control brightness from buttons but happy enough to do it from inside settings in the display tab. So i managed to get a near full functioning Dell 7567 finished before my deadine of this afternoon. Couldnt have done it without the generosity of people in this community. Thanks guys! This place is truly amazing....

I was also wondering is VoodooI2C better than VoodooPS2Controller in terms of tracking (no need of gestures)? I have a Precision Touchpad and I think is compatible with VoodooI2C by checking its documentation page.

Brightness keys can be fixed by using VoodooPS2Controller kext and a DSDT patch. See #1 of:

(its the BRT6 method), if you become familiar with DSDT patching, you can do this easily.

If you don't need hassle of DSDT patching, for now you can use Fn+B and Fn+S keys for changing brightness in OSX if you are using VoodooPS2Controller kext instead of ApplePS2SmartTouchPad.
