I remember having bootloops ... I believe mine were caused by a bios setting, just can't remember which one

I sleuthed a little and heard that updating the lilu kext to the latest version would solve the looping issue:
https://github.com/vit9696/Lilu/releases/tag/1.2.1

I did this and was able to progess to the 10.13.2 installer, that went well for a bit but as it was finishing the install I got a 'macOS could not be installed on your computer' message with a restart button, I clicked on that and booted back into the installation process. The installation continued normally and the installer re-started 2x each time beginning at the 13-minute mark. So looks like I have an installer loop now. Hmmmmm...

Install from USB, after that continue from System drive, it will reboot a few times, just keep choosing system drive and it should work in the end .. takes some patience

Thanks for this information as I’m thinking of selling my Over Kill MacBook Pro 15 2017 and move to an Hackintosh as I don’t need the mobility. I’m from Israel and I can’t find this ASRock Z370 motherboard, is there any recommendations for alternative motherhood that can preform the same and use the same install instructions as I need a perfect guide because I’m new to Hackintosh and I don’t want to stuck in the middle of the installation process.
Thanks

Eric, thank you for the nice guide. I am putting together a build very similar just with a larger case. After going through 2 iMacs this will be my first attempt at a hackintosh. Now.... if only I could get my hands on the i5-8400. Soon enough I hope.

I started from scratch once again, trying to see exactly where things went south.

1. I tried first with a default UniBeast USB stick, I knew this wouldn't work, but that's my baseline.
2. I then worked with Erik's EFI from the first post, the only difference being was that I was using 10.13.2 / This results in a clover boot loop. This was just the same as what happened earlier in the thread.

Current State:
I updated the UniBeast stick via Clover Configurator with the new Lili kext version 1.21. This resulted in a successful installation. Upon a very long re-start I was finally greeted with (after-restart image).

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I am using Erik's EFI on a different motherboard (I have the Fatal1ty z30 version). Should I just start something new in the High Sierra Desktop support? I feel like I'm so close! I'd appreciate any advice, if there's anything I can trouble-shoot I'd be glad to investigate fully and report back. We'll get there!

Almost forgot to mention, here's the updates the I made to the BIOS:

Exit → Load UEFI Defaults : Yes
OC Tweaker \ DRAM Configuration → Load XMP Setting : XMP 2.0 Profile 1
Advanced \ Chipset Configuration → Vt-d : Disabled
Advanced \ USB Configuration → XHCI Hand-off : Enabled

Hey Erik,

I'm thinking about a build almost exactly like your's, adding a Quadro P1000 vid card. Do you think the Mini-Box power supplies you have would support the additional power of the P1000?

Thanks

I got through that screenshot automatically after a bit of a wait as well .. grab a coffee and fingers crossed

Thank you Macbooky! I just got that shiny new feeling of booting straight to the desktop without incident. I have a working Mac! Now I have to read-up earlier on the thread on how to enable wireless (I purchased the module) and also the daunting prospect of getting my GPU working. Feel like the heavy lifting is done though. Thanks too to Erik for sussing all of this out! :headbang:

Thanks erik!

I'm using the Fatal1ty version of the motherboard, and I was having trouble booting the USB installer.
It seems that none of the USB ports are USB 2.0, or that I couldn't find the right way to configure the BIOS to make the board boot on the USB key.

Just copying your CLOVER folder to the EFI partition did the trick and allowed me to boot an High Sierra install on an external disk.

Now, I can't manage to boot the disk when plugging it as an internal disk. Any idea what might be wrong?
