SSDT Issues / Power management / Pascal drivers

Haha.. not sure. I'm not actively using ibooks or itunes so I'm not using icloud stuff. It probably would need to be addressed if I needed it more. I finally figured out the power management issue. It was a very basic solution- in maciasl, I needed to save out the dsl as an aml file. Ugh. I don't know how I missed that in rehabmans guide. I think the laptop directions and then custom options were confusing me. I just needed to read it section by section. Now that it works, is there anything I need to do to monitor power management stuff? Or its just fine as is?

Looks like I've addressed everything that I need to address for the meantime though. Been doing after effects work on the machine all weekend and its flying along just fine :) Looking forward to doing some 3d stuff. Do you have recommendations for overclock settings? Think I'd like to give that a whirl this week.

If you have a brand new setup, I'm not sure how you could have iMessage working properly... Unless you somehow cloned S/N, etc.?

But, if iCloud, iMessage, etc., are working normally, I suppose you don't need to do the iDiots Guide to iMessage bit...

OK - for iMessage to work properly, AFAIK, you have to have iCloud set up and working which means you need to have run through the iDiot's Guide to iMessage thread. Otherwise, iMessage will not echo your phone, etc.

That's my supposition anyway...

As for OC, I'm running 5ghz, and that's as far as I would go with the setup I'm using. I wouldn't OC the RAM, though I think you can squeeze a few more points out of it.

Be careful with the OC. I would NOT use the "auto tune." I found it screwed up my system. Simply setting the processor clock settings should do. Mind you, I'm NOT an OC expert by any means.

There is only one thing to say to the MACIASL - SMH!

That's the funny thing about imessages, I only input my info into its settings and it worked right away. Phone sync and all! Maybe OSX felt bad for the other struggles I had and decided to be nice :) we'll see how it lasts though.. I'm sure I'll be addressing little things down the line.

So you just selected 5ghz in the system clock? That seems fairly in that case. Will try it later on

Did you set up your S/N, etc., beforehand?

I can't reboot to look at my BIOS right now - it isn't as simple as "selecting 5ghz" unless I missed that setting somewhere...

I didn't do any s/n cloning.. but I have an s/n that loaded with clover. Not sure where it came from now that I think about it. I'm assuming that's why imessages works?

Sorry, thought maybe you had a guide for overclocking then you made it sound just that simple. I'll research it later.

Hmmm... you are likely using a "stock" S/N from Clover (or, it was in there from another config). So, yes, that's why it is working. AFAIK anyway. So, you may have gotten "lucky" in that respect.

In further thinking about it, if you are using a "stock" S/N, I would ditch that ASAP and generate your own via the Guide.

Checking out the guide now.. I see what you mean. There's potential that I may be using an s/n that already exists. Will look into that.

Was going to deal with the s/n issue but when I came home last night, my screen was black. Looks like my computer tried to wake itself up and then died? I had finally done the power management yesterday by putting SSDT-PluginType1.aml in acpi/patched. I rebooted, and ended up on black screen and then tried in verbose mode and couldn't even get past the first line of code. So I rebooted via usb and took out the ssdt file and am able to boot in normally now except theres some graphics distortion on the bios loading screen now (gfx card error?).

Did you run into weird issues with power management? Maybe I should do the custom ssdt instead of the kabylake download one from rehabmans guide.

Here's my current setup incase you're curious.

I believe I did the custom ssdtPRGen.sh portion of Rehabman's guide.

Actually, I wonder if, given that 10.12.6 supports Kaby Lake, that PM is even needed at all...

@RehabMan - do we need the custom PM SSDT anymore considering that Kaby Lake is now supported in 10.12.6 and forward?
